Locus of Control: The Mediation Effect between Emotional Stability and Pro-Environmental Behavior [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Locus of control is a crucial factor in pro-environmental behavior. However, studies on pro-environmental behavior investigating the predisposing factors of internal locus of control are limited.

Preventive DC‐side decoupling: A system integrity protection scheme to limit the impact of DC faults in offshore multi‐terminal HVDC systems

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission & Distribution
To create synergies between offshore wind integration and operational flexibility, interconnecting HVDC links to multi‐terminal networks is highly desired.

Finite Difference Method for the One-Dimensional Non-linear Consolidation of Soft Ground Under Uniform Load

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2020
Initial stress and additional effective stress distributions in soil greatly influence the degree of ground consolidation when calculating one-dimensional soft clay ground consolidation in deep soil. The one-dimensional non-linear consolidation governing

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Dissipative stability theory for linear repetitive processes with application in iterative learning control [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
This paper develops a new set of necessary and sufficient conditions for the stability of linear repetitive processes, based on a dissipative setting for analysis.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Applicability of boundary conditions for analytical modelling of advection-dispersion transport in low-permeability clay column tests

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao, 2017
The column tests on advection-dispersion are commonly used to measure the contaminant transport parameters in soils. The applicability of boundary conditions for analytical modelling of the column tests is under debate. The low-permeability kaolin column

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

A numerical study on active control for tiltrotor whirl flutter stability augmentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The use of active control to augment whirl flutter stability of tiltrotor aircraft is studied by means of a multibody simulation. The numerical model is based on a 1/5 scale semi-span aeroelastic wind tunnel model of a generic tiltrotor concept and ...
