Forecasting the Dialysis Burden in Japan: Validation‐Based Projections of Prevalence and Incidence Through 2050

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Japan has one of the highest dialysis prevalence rates worldwide and a shrinking, aging population. Whether dialysis burden has entered a sustained post‐peak phase or whether recent declines partly reflect pandemic‐related disruptions remains uncertain.

Stability Estimates of Optimal Solutions for the Steady Magnetohydrodynamics-Boussinesq Equations

open access: yesMathematics
This paper develops the mathematical apparatus of studying control problems for the stationary model of magnetic hydrodynamics of viscous heat-conducting fluid in the Boussinesq approximation.

Estimation Stability With Cross-Validation (ESCV) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Graphical Statistics, 2016
Cross-validation (CV) is often used to select the regularization parameter in high dimensional problems. However, when applied to the sparse modeling method Lasso, CV leads to models that are unstable in high-dimensions, and consequently not suited for reliable interpretation.

Effect of DFPP on Ferroptosis in Peripheral Blood CD14+ Monocytes of Hyperlipidemic Patients Involving the ACSL4/LPCAT3/ALOX5 Pathway

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Hyperlipidemia is a major risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD). Although statins are the cornerstone of lipid‐lowering therapy, their use may be limited in some patients by adverse effects. This study evaluated the possible impact of non‐drug treatment using double‐filtration plasmapheresis (DFPP) on CD14+

Nonlinear stability for 2 dimensional plane Couette flow

open access: yesRevista Integración, 2004
In this expository article, we discuss the application of the resolvent technique to prove nonlinear stability of 2 dimensional plane Couette flow. Using this technique, we show how one can derive a threshold amplitude for perturbations that can lead to ...

A Note on the Stability of the Integral-Differential Equation of the Parabolic Type in a Banach Space

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2012
The integral-differential equation of the parabolic type in a Banach space is considered. The unique solvability of this equation is established. The stability estimates for the solution of this equation are obtained.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Existence of global solutions for a predator-prey model with cross-diffusion

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2008
In this article, we prove the existence of global classical solutions for a prey-predator model when the space dimension ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
