Random Carbon Tax Policy and Investment Into Emission Abatement Technologies
ABSTRACT We analyze the problem of a profit‐maximizing electricity producer, subject to carbon taxes, who decides on investments into CO2$\rm CO_2$ abatement technologies. We assume that the carbon tax policy is random and that the investment in the abatement technology is divisible, irreversible, and subject to transaction costs.

To Move or Not to Move: When and How Bacteria Suppress Flagellar Motility
Motility cessation in bacteria is a key regulatory strategy that provides multiple survival advantages including enhanced community cooperation, niche adaptation and evasion of host immune responses. This process is controlled by associated mechanisms such as post‐translational modifications and second messenger signalling that stabilise non‐motile ...

Abstract This study investigated cerebral and neuromuscular responses to three exercise models: time trial (TT), maximal oxygen uptake (V̇O2max${{\dot{V}}_{{{{\mathrm{O}}}_2}{\mathrm{max}}}}$) and time to exhaustion (TTE). Fourteen participants completed the tests in the following order: V̇O2max${{\dot{V}}_{{{{\mathrm{O}}}_2}{\mathrm{max}}}}$, TT and ...

A new PDE solver was introduced recently, in Part I of this two-paper sequence, on the basis of two main concepts: the well-known Alternating Direction Implicit (ADI) approach, on one hand, and a certain “Fourier Continuation” (FC) method for the ...

Stability and regularity in nonlinear partial differential equations
This thesis is concerned with the stabilizing and regularizing effects caused by the dissipation of entropy in two quite different contexts: (1) the kinetic theory of collisional plasmas and (2) inviscid, compressible fluid mechanics.

Invariant Measure and Universality of the 2D Yang–Mills Langevin Dynamic
ABSTRACT We prove that the Yang–Mills (YM) measure for the trivial principal bundle over the two‐dimensional torus, with any connected, compact structure group, is invariant for the associated renormalised Langevin dynamic. Our argument relies on a combination of regularity structures, lattice gauge‐fixing and Bourgain's method for invariant measures ...

Advances in Dynamical Low-Rank Approximations for random PDEs and Data Assimilation
In the context of Uncertainty Quantification, simulating high-dimensional stochastic dynamical systems remains a challenging task owing to the high computational cost they incur.

AI in chemical engineering: From promise to practice
Abstract Artificial intelligence (AI) in chemical engineering has moved from promise to practice: physics‐aware (gray‐box) models are gaining traction, reinforcement learning complements model predictive control (MPC), and generative AI powers documentation, digitization, and safety workflows.
