Are stabilization programs expansionary? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The empirical evidence presented in this paper casts doubts on the by now widely accepted "fact"that exchange rate based stabilization programs are expansionary.

R-Invariant Dilaton Fixing [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We consider dilaton stabilization with R invariance, which insures a vanishing cosmological constant at the scale of stabilization. We construct a few models which accommodate weak gauge couplings with large or small gauge groups.

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Combined Stabilization of Clay Using Lime and PVCFibers

open access: yesAGG+
Reinforcing soil for foundations or embankments is crucial for ensuring structural stability and longevity. Many methods are used in Geotechnics to reinforce soils, which can be broadly categorized into chemical processes and mechanical approaches ...

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

Exponential ε-tracking and ε-stabilization of second-order nonholonomic SE(2) vehicles using dynamic state feedback [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
In this paper, we address the problem of ε-tracking and ε-stabilization for a class of SE(2) vehicles with second-order nonholonomic constraints. We introduce a class of transformations called near-identity diffeomorphism that allow dynamic partial ...

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Application of Lignin for Slope Bioengineering: Effect on Soil Improvement and Plant Growth

open access: yesApplied Sciences
This study aims to establish whether lignin-treated soils could result in greater soil strength and stimulate seed germination and growth, which can be essential for slope bioengineering. Three different soil types with a range of plasticity were treated
