Stochastic Stability of Nonlinear Oscillators

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 1988
The authors study the stability behavior of a non-linear oscillator parametrically excited by a stationary Markov process. They modify the notion of stability by considering \(H(E_ 0)=\sup_{t>0}E(t,E_ 0)\), where \(E(t)=U(x(t))+\dot x(t)^ 2\) is the sum of potential and kinetic energy, rather than the usual \(\sup_{t>0}| \vec x(t,\vec x_ 0)|\), where \(

Optimizing Coupled Oscillators for Stability

2005
Synchronization in chaotic oscillatory systems has a wide array of applications in biology, physics and communication systems. Over the past 10 years there has been considerable interest in the synchronization properties of small-world and scale-free networks. In this paper, we define the fitness of a configuration of coupled oscillators as its ability

Stability, Relaxation, and Oscillation of Biodegradation Fronts

SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, 2000
The authors study the stability and oscillation of traveling fronts in a three-component, advection-reaction biodegradation model. This equation admits traveling waves. Under some condition the system in the hyperbolic scaling limit converges strongly in space and time to a scalar conservation law with picewise linear flux.

Stabilizing the oscillations of an autonomous system

Automation and Remote Control, 2016
For a dynamical system that admits a family of oscillations, we propose a small smooth autonomous control that corrects the model itself and at the same time stabilizes the oscillations of the controlled system. We consider a separate system, a set of dynamical systems, and a dynamical model containing weakly coupled subsystem (MCCS).

Oscillations and Stability of a Plasma Jet

The Physics of Fluids, 1965
The longitudinal oscillations of a cylindrical plasma jet which moves with the lines of force of an externally impressed magnetic field (aligned to the jet) is investigated under the usual normal mode technique. A generalized dispersion relation is derived using the appropriate boundary conditions. Formal criteria for the cylindrical vortex sheet to be

Stability and Oscillations

1968
The pupil reflex to light falls into the category of control devices called servomechanisms. The feedback pathway which characterizes servosystems necessitates a system analysis in order to elucidate its physiology. By this is meant that there are certain properties such as stability and oscillations which cannot be attributed to any individual ...
