A New Topology of Modular Multilevel Converter With Voltage Self-Balancing Ability

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The modular multilevel converter (MMC) has been used in the field of HVDC transmission due to its many advantages, but its voltage imbalance problem of sub-module capacitors affects the stable operation of the system.

Structural studies and functional engineering of NanX: an anhydro‐sialic acid transporter from Escherichia coli

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biophysical characterisation shows that NanX, a membrane transport protein from the major facilitator superfamily (MFS), forms both monomers and dimers after purification. AlphaFold modelling and substrate docking provide information on residues likely involved in substrate recognition for NanX and another MFS member, NanT.

Topology Control of Low-Connection UAV Laser Network with Virtual Nodes

open access: yesApplied Sciences
Space laser communication technology has advantages such as high bandwidth and low interference, but the limitation of the load capacity of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) makes it difficult for UAV clusters to have sufficient communication links to ...

Distribution network topology identification based on gradient boosting decision tree and attribute weighted naive Bayes

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2023
Topology identification is important to ensure a safe and stable distribution network operation, especially in the case of high proportion of new energy access to the distribution network.

Unraveling 4‐Phenylbutyrate's Therapeutic Role in SLC6A1 Disorders: Pharmacochaperoning Over HDAC Inhibition

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Variants in SLC6A1, encoding the GABA transporter 1 (GAT‐1), cause epilepsy, autism spectrum disorder, and developmental delay via loss of GABA uptake, impaired trafficking, and ER retention. We previously found that 4‐Phenylbutyrate (PBA), an FDA‐approved drug, restores GABA uptake and reduces seizures in SLC6A1‐related disorders ...

Formal analysis of control and termination of distributed computation in weaker spaces

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2018
The control and termination detection of a distributed computation involving large-scale distributed database is difficult in the presence of concurrency, random network delays, and varying reliability of computing nodes. The formal modeling and analysis

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Phase Field Failure Modeling: Brittle‐Ductile Dual‐Phase Microstructures under Compressive Loading

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The approach by Amor and the approach by Miehe and Zhang for asymmetric damage behavior in the phase field method for fracture are compared regarding their fitness for microcrack‐based failure modeling. The comparison is performed for the case of a dual‐phase microstructure with a brittle and a ductile constituent.

Optimization noise stability based approach to channel routing

open access: yesElectrical engineering & Electromechanics, 2014
A solution to an efficiency improvement problem for microelectronic device topology design automation systems is obtained with allowance for noise stability. Noise-stable channel topology designing algorithms are introduced.
