The alcoholic and n-butanolic extracts of dried leaves of Stachytarpheta cayennensis (L.C. Rich) Vahl (Verbenaceae) was assessed in antiinflammatory and antinociceptive models. Intraperitoneal pretreatment with the dried extracts at doses ranging from 100 to 200 mg/kg, significantly inhibited carrageenin inducing edema formation.

Anti-inflammatory and anti-ulcerogenic properties of Stachytarpheta cayennensis (L.C. Rich) Vahl
Journal of Ethnopharmacology, 2006In the present work, the anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective properties of ethanolic extracts of Stachytarpheta cayennesis (L.C. Rich) Vahl (Verbenaceae) were assessed. Chromatographic analysis of the crude ethanolic extract, SC01, revealed high concentrations of the iridoid ipolamiide, whereas the SC02, the second ethanolic extract, presented the ...

Abstract Glycosylated phenylpropanoids and iridoids were isolated from the ethyl acetate extract from the roots of Stachytarpheta cayennensis by step gradient countercurrent chromatography (CCC). The chosen gradient utilized a stepwise increase of the butanol ratio in a normal phase separation, utilizing a biphasic EtOAc:BuOH:H2O solvent system, 1:X:1 ...
