Piezoelectric method‐based harvested energy evaluation from car suspension system: Simulation and experimental study

open access: yesEnergy Science & Engineering, 2021
The main objective of this work is to build a mathematical model to evaluate the potential of harvesting power from the car suspension system. Quarter‐ and half‐car models with built‐in piezoelectric stack were modeled mathematically and simulated using ...

Minimal left-right symmetric intersecting D-brane model

open access: yes, 2017
We investigate left-right symmetric extensions of the standard model based on open strings ending on D-branes, with gauge bosons due to strings attached to stacks of D-branes and chiral matter due to strings stretching between intersecting D-branes.

Epitaxial growth of high quality InP on Si substrates: The role of InAs/InP quantum dots as effective dislocation filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Monolithic integration of InP on a Si platform ideally facilitates on-chip light sources in silicon photonic applications. In addition to the well-developed hybrid bonding techniques, the direct epitaxy method is spawning as a more strategic and ...

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Multi-task Deep Reinforcement Learning with PopArt

open access: yes, 2018
The reinforcement learning community has made great strides in designing algorithms capable of exceeding human performance on specific tasks. These algorithms are mostly trained one task at the time, each new task requiring to train a brand new agent ...

Hyperosmotic stress induces PARP1‐mediated HPF1‐dependent mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Sorbitol‐induced hyperosmotic stress rapidly induces reversible mono(ADP‐ribosyl)ation (MARylation) on PARP1 without the signs of genotoxic signaling. We show that PARP1 autoMARylation is HPF1 dependent and forms hydroxylamine‐resistant O‐glycosidic linkages.

Low-Power Stack-Level Programming Enabled by Optimized Dummy Word Line Voltage in 3-D NAND Flash Memory

open access: yesIEEE Journal of the Electron Devices Society
In this paper, we propose a low-power stack-level programming scheme for ultrahigh stack 3D NAND flash memory. As the number of word lines (WLs) increases beyond 300 layers, the increased pass voltage leads to excessive power consumption and reliability ...

Some Phenomenology of Intersecting D-Brane Models

open access: yes, 2004
We present some phenomenology of a new class of intersecting D-brane models. Soft SUSY breaking terms for these models are calculated in the u - moduli dominant SUSY breaking approach (in type IIA).

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Measurement of gamma activity from the PUREX stack, Number 296-A-10, HEPA filters [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
In response to the Environmental Protection Agency`s requirements for evaluating radioactive emissions from stacks, this test plan was developed. The test plan employs the use of low resolution (NaI) portable gamma spectrometry to identify and measure gamma emitting radionuclides from HEPA filters.
