Stack sorting with restricted stacks [PDF]
The (classical) problem of characterizing and enumerating permutations that can be sorted using two stacks connected in series is still largely open. In the present paper we address a related problem, in which we impose restrictions both on the procedure and on the stacks.

Stack Sorting with Increasing and Decreasing Stacks [PDF]
We introduce a sorting machine consisting of $k+1$ stacks in series: the first $k$ stacks can only contain elements in decreasing order from top to bottom, while the last one has the opposite restriction. This device generalizes the $\mathfrak{DI}$ machine introduced by Rebecca Smith, which studies the case $k=1$.

Study of Surface Roughness and Burr Formation After Milling of Carbon Fiber/Titanium Stacks [PDF]
This work aims to study the influence of cutting parameters (cutting speed, feed rate, cutting depth and tool cutting edge angle) regarding surface roughness and burr formation during the milling of a mixed structure comprised of titanium and carbon ...

The development of solid oxide co-electrolysis of H2O and CO2 on large-size cells and stacks
In the context of carbon neutrality, conversion of CO2 into CO is an effective way for negative carbon emission. Electrochemical reduction is a novel developed pathway, among which, solid oxide co-electrolysis technology is promising for its high ...

Three microbial fuel cells (MFCs) with different volumes (S-, M-, and L-MFCs) were operated at individual flow (phase I) and serially connected flow modes (phase II for forward flow and phase III for reverse flow) at the same flow rate.

A stack and a pop stack in series [PDF]
We study sorting machines consisting of a stack and a pop stack in series, with or without a queue between them. While there are, a priori, four such machines, only two are essentially different: a pop stack followed directly by a stack, and a pop stack followed by a queue and then by a stack.

Analysis of methods for selection of optimal parameters of stack
The most significant technical solutions should be optimized using a technical and economic analysis, which reduces the cost of their implementation. Due to the fact that the diameter and height of the chimney depends on the gas velocity in the chimney ...

Reverse electrodialysis (RED) is one of the techniques able to harvest energy from the salinity gradient between different salt solutions. There is a tradeoff between efficiency and generated power in a RED stack. This paper focuses on efficiency.

Two-stack-sorting with pop stacks [PDF]
We consider the set of permutations that are sorted after two passes through a pop stack. We characterize these permutations in terms of forbidden patterns (classical and barred) and enumerate them according to the ascent statistic. Then we show these permutations to be in bijection with a special family of polyominoes.
