Friedel oscillations responsible for stacking fault of adatoms: The case of Mg(0001) and Be(0001) [PDF]
We perform a first-principles study of Mg adatom and adislands on the Mg(0001) surface, and Be adatom on Be(0001), to obtain further insights into the previously reported energetic preference of the fcc faulty stacking of Mg monomers on Mg(0001).

Mapping stacks of topological stacks [PDF]
We prove that the mapping stack Map(Y,X) of topological stacks X and Y is again a topological stack if Y admits a compact groupoid presentation. If Y admits a locally compact groupoid presentation, we show that Map(Y,X) is a paratopological stack. In particular, it has a classifying space (hence, a natural weak homotopy type).

Stacking for machine learning redshifts applied to SDSS galaxies
We present an analysis of a general machine learning technique called 'stacking' for the estimation of photometric redshifts. Stacking techniques can feed the photometric redshift estimate, as output by a base algorithm, back into the same algorithm as ...

We generalize the notion of proper stack introduced by Kashiwara and Schapira to the case of a general site, and we prove that a proper stack is a stack.

ABSTRACT Background B‐acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B‐ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer, and while most children in high‐resource settings are cured, therapy carries risks for long‐term toxicities. Understanding parents’ concerns about these late effects is essential to guide anticipatory support and inform evolving therapeutic approaches ...

Stacking data analysis method for Langmuir multi-probe payload
There are numerous small-scale electron density irregularities in the ionosphere. The coordination of multiple needle Langmuir probes (m-NLPs) enables in situ measurement of electron density with high spatial resolution. However, the theoretical analysis

Stacking sensitive topological phases in a bilayer Kane-Mele-Hubbard model at quarter filling
Layered quasi two dimensional systems have garnered huge interest both in the advancement of technology and in understanding emergent physics such as unconventional superconductivity, topological phases. In particular, the study of topological properties

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.
