Polytypes of long-period stacking structures synchronized with chemical order in a dilute Mg-Zn-Y alloy

open access: yes, 2011
A series of structural polytypes formed in an Mg-1at.%Zn-2at.%Y alloy has been identified, which are reasonably viewed as long-period stacking derivatives of the hcp Mg structure with alternate AB stacking of the close-packed atomic layers.

Stacking for machine learning redshifts applied to SDSS galaxies

open access: yes, 2016
We present an analysis of a general machine learning technique called 'stacking' for the estimation of photometric redshifts. Stacking techniques can feed the photometric redshift estimate, as output by a base algorithm, back into the same algorithm as ...

Utilizing Ensemble Learning Techniques to Enhance Corn Price Prediction: A Case Study on South Dakota

open access: yesAgronomy
Predicting crop prices is a complex challenge that farmers must navigate each year, but machine learning algorithms can provide valuable insights to support more informed decision making.

Meta-Learner for Amharic Sentiment Classification

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
The emergence of the World Wide Web facilitates the growth of user-generated texts in less-resourced languages. Sentiment analysis of these texts may serve as a key performance indicator of the quality of services delivered by companies and government ...

Mapping stacks of topological stacks [PDF]

open access: yesJournal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik (Crelles Journal), 2010
We prove that the mapping stack Map(Y,X) of topological stacks X and Y is again a topological stack if Y admits a compact groupoid presentation. If Y admits a locally compact groupoid presentation, we show that Map(Y,X) is a paratopological stack. In particular, it has a classifying space (hence, a natural weak homotopy type).

Enhancing Migraine Classification Through Machine Learning: A Comparative Study of Ensemble Methods

open access: yesTechnologies
A migraine is a common and complex neurological disorder affecting more than 90% of people globally. Traditional migraine diagnostic and classification methods are time-intensive and prone to error.

Stacking non-BPS D-Branes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
We present a candidate supergravity solution for a stacked configuration of stable non-BPS D-branes in Type II string theory compactified on T^4/Z_2.

Proper Stacks

open access: yesPublications of the Research Institute for Mathematical Sciences, 2007
We generalize the notion of proper stack introduced by Kashiwara and Schapira to the case of a general site, and we prove that a proper stack is a stack.
