Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Malaria model with stage-structured mosquitoes

open access: yesMathematical Biosciences and Engineering, 2011
A simple SEIR model for malaria transmission dynamics is formulated as our baseline model. The metamorphic stages in the mosquito population are then included and a simple stage-structured mosquito population model is introduced, where the mosquito population is divided into two classes, with all three aquatic stages in one class and all adults in the ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

A Stochastic Predator-Prey System with Stage Structure for Predator

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
The authors introduce stochasticity into a predator-prey system with Beddington-DeAngelis functional response and stage structure for predator. We present the global existence and positivity of the solution and give sufficient conditions for the global ...

The human gut microbiome across the life course

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Despite significant individual variation and continuous change throughout life, the human gut microbiome follows some life stage‐specific trends. This article provides a brief overview of how gut microbiome composition shifts across different phases of life. Created in BioRender. Özkurt, E. (2026) https://BioRender.com/8q4nrnc.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Structure of stage games [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Title: Structure of stage games Objectives: The main goal of this thesis is to work out directions about how to put together a stage game. To create a certain directions which would help others, be they organisers and instructors of camps or residential ...
