Abstract Ecological niche models (ENMs) are used to assess the abiotic preferences of species by linking their occurrences to the environmental conditions in which they live. We developed a fossil‐informed ENM framework that integrates mid‐Holocene and modern occurrences to test niche stability and reconstruct abiotic niche characteristics for four ...

Abstract Objectives The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of mixed reality (MR)‐assisted percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) on stone‐free rate (SFR), perioperative complications and operative efficiency. Methods A search of PubMed, Embase and Web of Science from inception to February 2026 followed PRISMA guidelines.

Oxygen Deprivation Implicated in Rapid Coral Mortality Under Acute Heating Events
When corals were exposed to rapid heating, oxygen around their tissues fell sharply before the tissues broke down and the corals died. Similar tissue breakdown occurred when corals were deprived of oxygen without heating, while stronger water flow delayed the damage by improving oxygen delivery.

Enhancing reef carbonate budgets through coral restoration
Complex reef structure, built via calcium carbonate production by stony corals and other calcifying taxa, supports key ecosystem services. However, the decline in coral cover on reefs of the Florida Reef Tract (US), caused by ocean warming, disease, and ...

Success of restoration strategies in preventing extirpation of 2 critically endangered coral species
Abstract An unprecedented marine heatwave in 2023 caused widespread coral bleaching and mortality throughout the Caribbean. In the Florida Keys (USA), 2 foundation species, elkhorn coral (Acropora palmata) and staghorn coral (Acropora cervicornis), were severely affected.

Abstract Scleractinian coral evolved under nitrogen (N)‐limited conditions. The increase in N flux from anthropogenic activities to these otherwise N‐depleted environments is threatening coral health and coral reef ecosystem function. We tested the effect of elevated ammonium (NH4+) loading on Acropora metabolism responses (respiration, gross primary ...

Cálculo coraliforme masivo en la pielonefritis xantogranulomatosa
Xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis (XPN) is a rare entity and constitutes less than 1% of chronic pyelonephritis. Symptoms are frequently nonspecific and in 2/3 of cases it is associated with renal stones (coral or Staghorn calculus).

Summary: Despite advances in coral restoration science, challenges imposed by rapid environmental change impede progress. Here, we report mortality from disease and bleaching in an introduced nursery-reared population of the staghorn coral Acropora ...
