Tympanoplasty: To stage or not to stage

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1991
No unanimity of opinion exists in regard to staged operations in tympanoplasty. The controversy centers around the degree to which one should attempt to obtain hearing improvement in badly diseased ears. The major factor is the extent of the mucous membrane disease.

Staging for Rhinosinusitis

Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1997
Interest in the surgical treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis has increased, primarily because rigid endoscopy and, more particularly, computed tomographic scanning have facilitated the visualization of disease. At the same time it has become both scientifically and financially imperative to audit therapeutic outcome.

The First Stage in Two-Stage Template Matching

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 1985
This paper formulates the problem encountered in the first stage of two-stage, binary template matching as a set of hypotheses to be tested, including a hypothesis of ``no object.'' Two new statistics R and G are proposed, based on a likelihood ratio, and are compared to the sum of absolute differences and a correlation measure by analytical ...

Stage‐specific psychological determinants of stage transition

British Journal of Health Psychology, 2003
Objectives: The stages of change construct refers to the different psychological states people move through when they change their behaviour. However, the prediction that people in different stages of change need different sorts of interventions to stimulate the change process has scarcely been tested prospectively.
