Rotational stagnation point flow

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 1964
The constant-density inviscid rotational flow in the neighbourhood of a general stagnation point on a wall is investigated. In all but very special cases, the solution is non-analytic and the vorticity at the wall is infinite; the stagnation streamline is tangent to the wall at the stagnation point; stagnation points of saddlepoint type cannot exist ...

Stagnation point flow in a diffusion cell

Chemical Engineering Science, 1983
Abstract Stagnation point flow in a diffusion cell was examined to determine how close the resulting flow approached that produced under ideal conditions, and to evaluate its application to mass transfer systems. Ideal conditions exist when the substance can flow directly into a barrier, then reflect cleanly without the distortion of surrounding ...

Cattaneo-Christov heat flux (CC model) in mixed convective stagnation point flow towards a Riga plate

Comput. Methods Programs Biomed., 2020
This research article proposes an improved Fourier law of heat conduction (Cattaneo-Christov) in presence of heat source/sink. The heat transport characteristics are modeled for mixed convective stagnation point flow by a Riga plate.

Non-axisymmetric Homann stagnation-point flows

Journal of Fluid Mechanics, 2012
AbstractA modification of Homann’s axisymmetric outer potential stagnation-point flow of strain rate $a$ is obtained by adding periodic radial and azimuthal velocities of the form $b\hspace{0.167em} r\sin 2\theta $ and $b\hspace{0.167em} r\cos 2\theta $, respectively, where $b$ is a shear rate.

Stagnation Point Flow with Complex Composition

The Physics of Fluids, 1968
A previous study of the laminar boundary layer involving four inert species with widely different molecular weights but with a uniform external stream has been extended to describe such a boundary layer at an axisymmetric stagnation point. The transport properties of the gas mixture are described with reasonable accuracy so as to permit assessment of ...

Homotopy Solution for Stagnation-Point Flow

Communications in Theoretical Physics, 2012
This article reports the homotopy solution for stagnation point flow of a non-Newtonian fluid. An incompressible second grade fluid impinges on the wall either orthogonally or obliquely. The resulting nonlinear problems have been solved by a homotopy analysis method (HAM). Convergence of the series solutions is checked. Such solutions are compared with

Stagnation-point flow in a rotating cylinder

The Physics of Fluids, 1974
Linear theory is used to study the pure stagnation-point flow created inside a rotating cylinder by introducing fluid uniformly through the top surface and removing it uniformly through the side wall. Of main interest is the completely new role played by the E1/2 layer at the side wall, although the (unsteady) E1/4 and E1/3 layers also have novel ...

Catalytic combustion in stagnation-point flow

Wärme- und Stoffübertragung, 1985
Catalytic ignition and extinction processes are analyzed in this paper. The premixed fuel flows towards a catalytic plate of finite thermal conductivity and thickness. The effect of the external heating or cooling on these critical phenomena is also evaluated.

Unsteady axisymmetric stagnation point flow

Fluid Dynamics Research, 1992
The unsteady axisymmetric case of a three-dimensional stagnation flow is investigated. The incompressible potential flow far away from the stagnation point oscillates about a constant mean value. Using perturbation methods, an analytical solution of the problem is obtained for the extreme cases of low and high oscillation frequencies.
