On the Creation of Stagnation Points in a Rotating Flow

Ocean Engineering, 1997
Abstract We report the results of a numerical study of the creation of stagnation points in a rotating cylinder of fluid where both end-walls are rotated. Good agreement is found with previous results where the stagnation points are formed on the core of the primary columnar vortex.

Stagnation point flow of Maxwell nanofluid over a permeable rotating disk with heat source/sink

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2019
In this paper, rotational stagnation-point flow of Maxwell nanofluid over a porous radially stretching/shrinking rotating disk is studied. An innovative revised Buongiorno's nanofluid model is used to track the thermophoresis and Brownian movement of the

Stagnation-Point Flow of Rarefied GaS

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1967
This paper deals theoretically with the stagnation-point flow of a rarefied gas. Representative Mach number M S taken in the continuum flow region is assumed to be small and thus the analysis is based on the linearized B-G-K equation. A method of solution is developed in which the continuum flow and the Knudsen layer flow are considered successively ...

ON THE VISCOUS FLOW NEAR THE STAGNATION POINT ON AN INTERFACE

1964
Abstract : The viscous flow near the stagnation point on an interface between two liquids with different densities is studied. The use of a model allows some fairly general results to be readily obtained as a result of a mathematical analysis. Moreover, although the model is obviously not in full accordance with re-entry phenomena, it is believed that ...

Impinging rotational stagnation-point flows

International Journal of Non-Linear Mechanics, 2017
Abstract A rotational stagnation-point flow of fluid density ρ1 and kinematic viscosity ν1 impinges normal to another rotational stagnation-point flow of fluid density ρ2 and viscosity ν2. Results are compared with a previous study on the normal impingement of two Homann stagnation-point flows for which the flow in the far field is irrotational.

Stability of stagnation points in rotating flows

Physics of Fluids, 1997
The Lifschitz and Hameiri theory for short-wave instabilities is used to show that any steady inviscid plane flow subjected (or not) to a Coriolis with perpendicular angular velocity vector is unstable to three-dimensional perturbations if Φ(x0)<0 on a stagnation point located at x0.

Stagnation Point Probes in Hypersonic Flow

2017
Disturbance level measurements are carried out in the Hypersonic Ludwieg Tube Braunschweig (HLB) at \(\text{ Ma } = 5.9\) considering three shapes of stagnation point probes (SPP) and two different types of high speed surface sensors. Navier Stokes mean-flow solutions are produced for the flow around the front shapes to increase the understanding of ...
