Industrial power plant buildings differ from all other types of buildings, mainly due to their significant heights and volumes without internal floor sections, exceptionally heat gains during daily work, and potentially high fire risk.

Comparative Analysis of Work Function Measurement Techniques Based on Scanning Probe Microscopy
Non‐contact scanning probe microscopy visualizes the surface topography based on surface electronic properties. The tunneling current, which defines the geometry of the tunnel–junction, has to overcome the effective surface work function barrier to reach the probe from the surface.

Periodicity staircase in a centrosymmetric Fe/Gd magnetic thin film system
The presence of multiple competing periodicities may result in a system to go through states with modulated periodicities, an example of which is the self-similar staircase-like structure called the Devil’s Staircase.

An analytical process of spatial autocorrelation functions based on Moran's index.
A number of spatial statistic measurements such as Moran's I and Geary's C can be used for spatial autocorrelation analysis. Spatial autocorrelation modeling proceeded from the 1-dimension autocorrelation of time series analysis, with time lag replaced ...

In this paper, a mixed-order image denoising algorithm containing fractional-order and high-order regularization terms is proposed, which effectively suppresses the staircase effect generated by the TV model and its variants while better preserving the ...

On the fractal properties of generalized Cantor sets and Devil’s staircase functions
The authors consider a generalization of Cantor's ternary set and ternary function using the Cantor expansion of real numbers. They show that the Hausdorff dimension of these sets and the Hölder regularity of the corresponding functions depend on the specific sequence used in the definition of the expansion.

We report electrochemical quantum capacitance spectroscopy as an ambient, in situ probe for defect‐mediated electronic structure at 2D material interfaces. Using monolayer MoS2, the method resolves band edges and vacancy states, tracks sulfur‐vacancy evolution during hydrogen evolution, and links interfacial density‐of‐states changes to nearly ...

Roles of the espin actin-bundling proteins in the morphogenesis and stabilization of hair cell stereocilia revealed in CBA/CaJ congenic jerker mice. [PDF]
Hearing and vestibular function depend on mechanosensory staircase collections of hair cell stereocilia, which are produced from microvillus-like precursors as their parallel actin bundle scaffolds increase in diameter and elongate or shorten.

ABSTRACT Real‐time insight into local chemistry is critical for reliable part quality in additive manufacturing, especially laser powder bed fusion (PBF‑LB/M), where rapid thermal cycles and localized evaporation can undermine part performance. Optical emission spectroscopy (OES) offers non‑intrusive, in situ plume monitoring, but detection geometry ...

Suppressing Paired Echoes Caused by Stair-Step Antenna Steering in TOPS SAR Imaging
The use of electronically steered antennas in the azimuth dimension typically leads to a staircase-like antenna beam steering law in the Terrain Observation by Progressive Scan (TOPS) wide-swath synthetic aperture radar (SAR) data acquisition mode, which
