Standardization, requirements uncertainty and software project performance

Information & Management, 1996
Abstract A risk-based model of software project management was developed to explain the effect of software development standards on a software process and product performance in the presence of uncertainty in requirements. Residual performance risk , defined as the extent of difficulty in estimating performance outcomes during the later stages of ...

Embracing Uncertainty: Modeling the Standard Uncertainty in Electron Probe Microanalysis—Part I

Microscopy and Microanalysis, 2020
AbstractThis is the first in a series of articles which present a new framework for computing the standard uncertainty in electron excited X-ray microanalysis measurements. This article will discuss the framework and apply it to a handful of simple, but useful, subcomponents of the larger problem. Subsequent articles will handle more complex aspects of

Coordinate measurement uncertainty: Models and standards

tm - Technisches Messen, 2015
Abstract The paper presents the measurement models for the evaluation of measurement uncertainty included in ISO 15530-3. Critical remarks to ISO 15530-3:2011 are given. A model for an analytical method developed by the authors is presented. Finally, a numerical example for the simplified version of the method is given.

Standard uncertainty evaluation of multivariate polynomial

Measurement, 2014
Abstract The uncertainty propagation law helps to infer the uncertainty of unobservable variables from known or assumed relationship with observable variable. Currently only analytical linear approximation or Monte Carlo simulation methods is widely adopted.

Scientific Uncertainty scuttles new acid rain standard

Environmental Science & Technology, 1995
An EPA report to Congress due this month will report on the controversial question of whether the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 (CAAA) adequately protect sensitive areas of the United States from acid rain, and recommends against establishing a new `acid deposition standard` to protect sensitive areas of the United States from acid rain.
