Day-case stapedotomy: Is it a viable option?
Acta Oto-Laryngologica, 2012 Conclusions: Stapedotomy is, in our opinion, the technique of choice in stapes surgery. The precision of this technique allows clinicians to perform the surgical procedure in day surgery under local anesthesia.

In order to determine if this device induces histologic changes in the inner ear, stapedotomies were performed in cats. Saccular membrane fistulas, in line with the path of the laser beam, were found in 3 of 8 ears.
