Cloning of anagrhomologue ofStaphylococcus saprophyticus [PDF]
An agr homologue of Staphylococcus saprophyticus was identified, cloned and sequenced. The gene locus shows homologies to other staphylococcal agr systems, especially to those of S. epidermidis and S. lugdunensis. A putative RNAIII was identified and found to be differentially expressed during the growth phases. In contrast to the RNAIII molecules of S.

Morphology of Staphylococcus saprophyticus bacteriophages
Research in Virology, 1990The morphology of 6 bacteriophages isolated from Staphylococcus saprophyticus was studied by electron microscopy. Phages had isometric heads and non-contractile tails, thus belonging to the Siphoviridae family. They were subdivided into two morphological groups based on head diameter and tail length.

Bacterial prostatitis caused by staphylococcus saprophyticus
Urology, 1982Staphylococcus saprophyticus has been shown to be an important uropathogen in urinary tract infections in young women. Thirty-five isolates from 27 patients with staphylococci in the prostatic fluid of men with bacterial prostatitis were evaluated for the presence of S. saprophyticus.

Staphylococcus saprophyticus urinary tract infections in children
European Journal of Pediatrics, 1993Staphylococcus saprophyticus commonly causes urinary tract infection (UTI) in young women; in males it is found mainly in the elderly. In this study S. saprophyticus UTI occurred in 59 children (45 girls and 14 boys) below 16 years of age, of whom 20 were less than 13 years of age.

The Origin of Staphylococcus saprophyticus from Cattle and Pigs
Scandinavian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1993Staphylococcus saprophyticus is a common cause of urinary tract infections. We have earlier shown that the bacterium is a contaminant of food of animal origin. In order to trace the natural reservoir of the bacterium, samples were taken from farming environment and from slaughtered carcasses. S.
