We present a novel method of constraining volcanic activity on extrasolar terrestrial worlds via characterization of circumstellar plasma tori. Our work generalizes the physics of the Io plasma torus to propose a hypothetical circumstellar plasma torus ...

The Effect of Star-Planet Interactions on Planetary Climate
Thesis (Ph.D.)--University of Washington, 2014The goal of the work presented here is to explore the unique interactions between a host star, an orbiting planet, and additional planets in a stellar system, and to develop and test methods that include both

Evaluating Star–Planet Interactions with Zeeman Doppler Imaging: Case Study in YZ Ceti
The recent detections of radio emission from the nearby exoplanet host, YZ Ceti, suggest that the star is possibly interacting with its rocky innermost planet.

Tuning in to star-planet interactions at radio wavelengths
Low-mass main-sequence stars like our Sun are continuous sources of outflowing hot magnetised plasma. In the case of the Sun, this is known as the solar wind, whereas for other stars they are called stellar winds. These types of stars comprise 93% of all stars in our galaxy, and also host the bulk of all exoplanets discovered to date.

Liu et al. define a systems‐level interactome of fibroadipogenic progenitor (FAP)‐mediated signaling in skeletal muscle by integrating single‐cell transcriptomics with FAP depletion‐based perturbation analysis. Functional interrogation using a conditioned media bioassay links predicted signaling to multicellular outcomes, establishing a framework to ...

A 3D In Vitro Model of the Human Hepatobiliary Junction
A 3D human organoid platform reconstructs the hepatobiliary junction between primary adult hepatocytes and intrahepatic cholangiocytes. These adult hepatobiliary organoids (aHBOs) support directional bile transport from canaliculi to ductule‐like structures, enable quantitative imaging of junction dynamics, and reveal cell‐type‐specific vulnerabilities

C3PO. III. On the Lithium Signatures following Planet Engulfment by Stars
Planet engulfment has been identified as one of the mechanisms for enhancing lithium abundance in stars. However, comprehensive investigations into lithium signatures following such events remain limited.

Star-planet magnetic interactions in photoevaporating exoplanets
Observations of periodic stellar activity near the transit phase of a close-in exoplanet provide evidence of star-planet magnetic interactions (SPMI), similar to the magnetic coupling between Jupiter and its moons. Comparing the power associated with SPMI signals to analytical theories offers a way to constrain exoplanetary magnetic fields, but models ...
