Modeling magnetized star-planet interactions: boundary conditions effects

open access: yes, 2016
Conference ProceedingCopyright © International Astronomical Union 2013We model the magnetized interaction between a star and a close-in planet (SPMIs), using global, magnetohydrodynamic numerical simulations.

Searching for planet-induced radio signals from the young close-in planet host star HIP 67522 [PDF]

open access: yes
HIP 67522 is a 17 Myr old 1.2 M⊙ dwarf. It is the only such young star known to host two close-in gas giant planets. The inner planet likely orbits close enough to its host to power magnetic star-planet interactions.

A Robust Launching Mechanism for Free- floating Planets from Host Stars with Close-in Planets

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Secular perturbations from binary stars and distant massive planets can drive cold planets onto nearly parabolic orbits with pericenter passages extremely close to their host stars.

Controlling Film Formation in Inkjet‐printed MAPbBr3 Through Graphene Incorporation for Enhanced Photodetection

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This work highlights the impact of incorporating graphene nanoflakes into precursor inks of MAPbBr3 for inkjet‐printed optoelectronic device applications. A substantial modification of the crystallization dynamics is reported despite miniscule concentrations.

Stretchable and Strain‐Tolerant Gold‐Coated Fibrous Biosensor for Superoxide Anion Monitoring

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A breathable, stretchable gold nanomesh–TPU fiber platform is developed via controlled electroless deposition, enabling uniform through‐thickness conductivity while preserving porosity. Functionalized with superoxide dismutase, the system achieves selective, real‐time electrochemical detection of superoxide with high sensitivity, mechanical durability,

Solid Particle‐Liquid Metal Mixtures for Robust High‐Current Interconnects in Stretchable Electronics and Soft Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Metallic microparticles dispersed in liquid metal interconnects mitigate electromigration‐induced failure by reconfiguring internal current density distributions. These fillers facilitate the growth of a robust, protective gallium oxide shell at elevated temperatures, shifting the failure threshold toward a thermal limit.

Disk2Planet: A Robust and Automated Machine Learning Tool for Parameter Inference in Disk–Planet Systems

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We introduce Disk2Planet, a machine-learning-based tool to infer key parameters in disk–planet systems from observed protoplanetary disk structures. Disk2Planet takes as input the disk structures in the form of 2D density and velocity maps, and outputs ...

Micromachined Double‐Membrane Mechanically Tunable Metamaterial for Thermal Infrared Filtering

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, Volume 6, Issue 5, May 2025.
Herein, a mechanically tunable double‐layer plasmonic metamaterial leveraging the extraordinary optical transmission effect observed in subwavelength arrays of openings within thin metal layers is presented. The concept is experimentally validated by integrating the proposed metamaterial structure into an electrostatic parallel‐plate actuator to create

Planet formation, orbital evolution and planet-star tidal interaction

open access: yes, 1998
We consider several processes operating during the late stages of planet formation that can affect observed orbital elements. Disk-planet interactions, tidal interactions with the central star, long term orbital instability and the Kozai mechanism are ...

Planet-Planet gravitational scattering

open access: yes, 2010
In planetary systems populated by two or more giant planets, planet--planet scattering can lead to collisions and ejections of one or more bodies. The original planetary configuration can be significantly altered by this kind of dynamical evolution and ...
