A strong background daytime star image processing method using improved morphology Top-Hat filter and pipeline filter

Twelfth International Conference on Graphics and Image Processing (ICGIP 2020), 2021
A daytime star sensor is a high precision attitude measurement instrument with the ability of detecting stars in the atmosphere during daytime. Different from star sensor applied in space, the performance of daytime star sensor is greatly affected by the strong sky background radiation.

An Improved Star Detection Algorithm Using a Combination of Statistical and Morphological Image Processing Techniques

2018 IEEE Applied Imagery Pattern Recognition Workshop (AIPR), 2018
A star detection algorithm determines the position and magnitude of stars on an observed space scene. In this study, a robust star detection algorithm is presented that filters the noise out in astronomical images and accurately estimates the centroid of stars in a way that preserving their native circular shapes.

Processing of Star Catalog and Star Image

2016
Processing of star catalog and star image is the groundwork for star identification. The Star sensor process establishes the three-axis attitude of spacecraft by observing and identifying stars. Thus, star information is indispensable. The star information used by the star sensor process mainly includes the positions (right ascension and declination ...

CONVOLUTIONAL NEURAL NETWORK APPROACH TO STAR SENSORS IMAGE PROCESSING ALGORITHMS

2021
The present work will investigate an Artificial Intelligence (AI) approach in the framework of image segmentation and clustering algorithms for star sensors applications. It focuses on the architecture development and test of a Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) based algorithm and results comparison with the state of the art.

VLTI Imaging of a High-Mass Protobinary System: Unveiling the Dynamical Processes in High-Mass Star Formation

2017
High-mass stars exhibit a significantly higher multiplicity frequency than low-mass stars, likely reflecting differences in how they formed. Theory suggests that high-mass binaries may form by the fragmentation of self-gravitational discs or by alternative scenarios such as disc-assisted capture.

Data processing and algorithm development for the WFIRST-AFTA coronagraph: reduction of noise free simulated images, analysis and spectrum extraction with reference star differential imaging

SPIE Proceedings, 2015
Direct detection and characterization of mature giant or sub-Neptunes exoplanets in the visible require space-based instruments optimized for high-contrast imaging with contrasts of 10-9. In this context, the Wide-Field Infrared Survey Telescope - Astrophysics Focused Telescope Assets (WFIRST-AFTA) will reach raw contrasts of about 8×10-9 to 10-9 using

[Application of star card in edge enhancement processing of pneumoconiosis DR image].

Zhonghua lao dong wei sheng zhi ye bing za zhi = Zhonghua laodong weisheng zhiyebing zazhi = Chinese journal of industrial hygiene and occupational diseases, 2018
Objective: The feasibility of applying DR card in the quality control of chest film of pneumoconiosis was discussed by using the image detail change of 1 degree star card. Methods: With different types of grid DR device for star card photography, to ensure that the grid bars are orthogonal to the direction of star card image quality is stable, conforms

On-chip image-processing algorithm for real-time CCD-based star trackers and wavefront sensors

Publications of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, 1994
In this paper, we describe on-chip and off-chip image procesing algorithms utilizing the internal architect of recently developed CCD sensors to provide high speed readout of selected portions of the imager or accelerated scanning of an entire CCD frame.

Processing of CCD images of star fields without the frame of a flat field by using new software in program shell of MIDAS/ROMAFOT

2015
Results of CCD frames of star fields processing obtained by two ways, are analyzed. In the first case (a traditional method) the frame of flat field are used. In the second one the own large-scale flat field is obtained directly from the processable frames of image. That is we suggest to find the frame of a flat field individually for each frame of the
