Accumulation of Starch in Banana Pseudostem and Fruit

Journal of Food Science, 1970
SUMMARY: The rhizome, pseudostem and the unripe fruit of the banana have a high starch content. Its concentration is higher in the middle fleshy leaf sheaths and increases gradually towards the rhizome downward along the length of the pseudostem.

Spatiotemporal accumulation and characteristics of starch in developing maize caryopses

Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
The accumulation and morphology of starch in the pericarp, embryo and endosperm of normal and waxy maize were investigated using whole sections of complete caryopses. Pericarp starch took the form of compound granules, was distributed in the bottom of caryopses, and degraded from the top to the bottom.

Starch accumulation is associated with active growth in A. tequilana

Plant Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Transcriptome analysis of different tissues and developmental stages of A. tequilana plants led to the identification of full length cDNAs and the corresponding amino acid sequences for enzymes involved in starch metabolism in this species. Comparison with sequences from other species confirmed the identities of putative A.

ANALYSIS OF STARCH ACCUMULATION AND GERMINATION IN ONOCLEA SPORES

American Journal of Botany, 1980
Previous studies have shown that low fluences of light accelerate starch accumulation and enhance germination of Onoclea spores. Fluence response curves for induction of starch accumulation were compared with fluence response curves for enhancement of germination in order to determine if the two photoresponses in Onoclea spores have a common ...

[Hydroxyethyl starch accumulation in the skin with special reference to hydroxyethyl starch-associated pruritus].

Deutsche medizinische Wochenschrift (1946), 2000
Hydroxyethyl starch (HES) is a colloidal infusion fluid that has for a long time been used in emergency situations and to improve impaired blood perfusion. In the last few years there have been numerous reports about treatment resistant pruritus, often persisting for months, after HES infusion.
