The GALAH Survey : chemical tagging and chrono-chemodynamics of accreted halo stars with GALAH+DR3 and Gaia eDR3 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Since the advent of Gaia astrometry, it is possible to identify massive accreted systems within the Galaxy through their unique dynamical signatures. One such system, Gaia-Sausage-Enceladus (GSE), appears to be an early ‘building block’ given its virial ...

The nature and origin of disky elliptical galaxies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The observational trend that disky elliptical galaxies exhibit younger luminosity- weighted ages than boxy ellipticals is investigated. The presence of a possible young stellar disk embedded in these galaxies is explored by comparing kinematics derived ...

A and F stars as probes of outer Galactic disc kinematics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Previous studies of the rotation law in the outer Galactic disc have mainly used gas tracers or clump giants. Here, we explore A and F stars as alternatives: these provide a much denser sampling in the outer disc than gas tracers and have experienced ...

The Gaia-ESO survey: Constraining evolutionary models and ages for young low mass stars with measurements of lithium depletion and rotation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
A growing disquiet has emerged in recent years that standard stellar models are at odds with observations of the colour-magnitude diagrams (CMDs) and lithium depletion patterns of pre-main sequence stars in clusters.

Microstructural Evolution and Vacancy Defect Formation in Mn–Mo–Ni RPV Steel Under Low Cycle Fatigue: Insights From EBSD and PALS

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

A simplified approach to kinematics of stars in solar neighbourhood

open access: yes, 2015
For a number of stars from the Solar neighbourhood the eccentricities of their galactocentric orbits are calculated by using a simplified procedure given by Ninković (2011).

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Kinematics of Low‐zUltraluminous Infrared Galaxies and Implications for Dynamical Mass Derivations in High‐zStar‐forming Galaxies [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal, 2005
The kinematic properties of the gaseous and stellar components of 11 ultraluminous infrared galaxies (ULIRGs; 14 nuclei) are investigated by means of integral field spectroscopy (IFS) with the INTEGRAL system and available IR and CO millimeter spectroscopy.

Investigating kinematics and dynamics of three open clusters towards Galactic anti-center

open access: yes, 2023
We present the intra-cluster kinematics and dynamics of three open clusters: NGC 1193, NGC 2355, and King 12 by incorporating kinematical and photometric data from Gaia DR3, as well as a ground-based telescope.
