A Stator Cage to Increase the Starting Torque of the Line-Start Vernier Motor
2020 23rd International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2020To increase performances for fixed-speed applications as pumps or fans, the line-start motors have been developed. It has been adapted to large scaled topologies but not yet to the flux modulation motors, as the Vernier motor, mainly because the conventional squirrel cage is not suitable to the mulitharmonic airgap magnetic fields of these motors.

Controlled-Torque Starting of Textile Machinery
IEEE Transactions on Industry and General Applications, 1971Control of the starting torque of textile machinery drives has become an important factor in the effective performance of textile machinery. Increased operating speeds to achieve greater production requires more precise acceleration of machine components to ensure efficient operation.

Start-Up Torque Limitation of Induction Motors by Asymmetrical Starting Connections
Electric Machines & Power Systems, 1988ABSTRACT Smooth acceleration during the start-up is important in some industrial applications of induction motors. An example is given by texile machines, where the breaking fibre threas during the start-up must be avoided. An asymmetrical starting scheme, implemented by means of an external resistance inserted in one of the motor phases, can provide a

Oscillatory Torques During Synchronous Motor Starting
IEEE Transactions on Industry and General Applications, 1970A fundamental characteristic of the salient-pole synchronous motor is a twice-slip frequency torque pulsation during acceleration. Although frequently neglected, sound application engineering requires an understanding of this subject. The way twice-slip frequency torques are produced in synchronous machines is discussed, as are the effects of these ...

Starting torque of variable frequency electric drive
2017 International Conference on Modern Electrical and Energy Systems (MEES), 2017The thesis deals with analyzing modes of the induction motor breakaway in the system “frequency changer — induction motor”. The authors establish that the stator winding heating occurs slower when forming the cyclic starting moment compared to the heating in the prolonged operating mode of the induction motor with the stalled rotor that allows doing ...

A microcomputer measuring unit for starting torque of micromotors
Proceedings of 1994 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology - ICIT '94, 2002A microcomputer measuring unit for the starting torque of micromotors is presented. The measuring result on a claw pole permanent-magnet synchronous motor shows that, compared with the traditional platform scale method, this unit possesses the following advantages: it has high accuracy and high speed in measuring; it is easy to operate; it can provide ...

High starting torque for AC SCR controller
IEEE Transactions on Energy Conversion, 1999A control strategy is proposed for AC thyristor controllers. The main feature of the proposed technique is that motors can start with high torque, while using an economical design. This allows the use of AC thyristor controllers for a wide range of applications, where they have not been used before.

Effect of torque ratio on speed regulating start
Industrial Lubrication and Tribology, 2018Purpose Friction pairs of the hydro-viscous drive speed regulating start device should be designed based on the rated torque. To obtain design basis of the rated torque of the hydro-viscous drive speed regulating start device, studies on effect of torque ratio (a ratio of the load torque to the rated torque) on speed regulating start were carried out ...

Transactions: Transient starting torques in induction motors
Electrical Engineering, 1940A transient fundamental-frequency torque is shown to occur in the starting of all induction motors. For full-voltage starting on a general-purpose squirrel-cage motor, this torque may be as high as two or three times the pull-out torque. A consideration of such torques is particularly advisable for cases where induction motors are started and stopped ...

Start-Up Torques in Synchronous Motor Drives
IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1978During run-up as an induction motor, the torque produced by a synchronous machine has oscillating components in addition to the natural frequencies of torsional oscillation of the complete drive system so that the shaft torque may differ substantially from the motor electromagnetic torque.
