Formation of Starting Torque of Double-Fed Induction Motor

2020 IEEE Problems of Automated Electrodrive. Theory and Practice (PAEP), 2020
The article deals with studying the way of determining the supply voltage parameters for induction motor with frequency control in the rotor circle under the conditions of the hard start. The method of experiment planning results in the regression model of the frequency in the power net and the angle of mismatch of electromagnetic fields of the stator ...

Applying Adjustable Frequency Controllers to High-Starting-Torque Loads

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1995
Effectively applying adjustable frequency controllers (AFCs) to high-starting-torque loads present challenges to the application engineer. A detailed understanding of AFC operation is essential. The authors use a recent experience to review the essential system concepts and outline a practical method to minimize potential pitfalls and facilitate ...

Reduced Starting Current For Single Phase Capacitor Induction Motors While Maintaining Starting Torque

2019 IEEE AFRICON, 2019
Single phase induction motors typically require 7 times their rated current to provide the necessary starting torque. This provides a challenge in weak electrical systems. The work presented in this paper illustrates that starting a refrigerator compressor motor from a non-zero frequency supply with v/f ratio changing and a suitable ramp time a ...

Direct torque control of induction motor soft starting

2009 Brazilian Power Electronics Conference, 2009
This paper presents a simple technique based on stator flux estimation to control the electromagnetic torque of induction motors during soft starting. The inherent problems related to pure integration of the back electromagnetic force to estimate the stator flux are minimized using the low pass filter approach.

Handling high torque starts in new and retrofit applications

2017 IEEE-IAS/PCA Cement Industry Technical Conference, 2017
Many applications have a higher starting torque requirement and it is sometimes a struggle to provide smooth starting performance. VFD starts are known to reduce starting stresses but may not always provide the best overall solution when economics, performance and process control are considered.

Torque Oscillations of Synchronous Motors Under Starting Conditions

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1987
Salient-pole synchronous motors develop an average torque and a twice-slip frequency oscillating torque during starting. If coupled to a complex mechanical system, with resonance in the oscillatory frequency range, severe stresses may result in shafts, gears, and couplings.

Condenser Motor with High Starting Torque and Low Capacitance

1928
The theory of the condenser motor is the operation of a poly-phase motor on a single-phase source. If we consider the current in one phase of a two-phase motor the IR drop is in phase with the current I and the reactance drop is at right angles to it. The voltage OB across the phase is the vector sum of these two.
