Inflammation is at the forefront of carcinogenesis, tumor progression, and resistance to therapy. The JAK/STAT signaling axis is a central pathway that mediates the cellular response to inflammation and contributes to carcinogenesis. The JAK/STAT pathway

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Strong Bounded Solutions For Nonlinear Parabolic Systems [PDF]
In this article we study the existence of strong bounded solutions for nonlinear parabolic systems on a domain which is bounded in space and unbounded in time (namely the entire real line). We use nonlinear iteration arguments combined with some a priori

JAK-STAT in Early Hematopoiesis and Leukemia
Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) produce all the terminally differentiated blood cells and are controlled by extracellular signals from the microenvironment, the bone marrow (BM) niche, as well as intrinsic cell signals.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

A Computational Study Of The Role Of Spatial Receptive Field Structure In Processing Natural And Non-Natural Scenes [PDF]
The center-surround receptive field structure, ubiquitous in the visual system, is hypothesized to be evolutionarily advantageous in image processing tasks.

Correlations in the properties of static and rapidly rotating compact stars
Correlations in the properties of the static compact stars (CSs) and the ones rotating with the highest observed frequency of 1122Hz are studied using a large set of equations of state (EOSs).

Aldehyde dehydrogenase 1A1 (ALDH1A1) is a cancer stem cell marker in several malignancies. We established a novel epithelial cell line from rectal adenocarcinoma with unique overexpression of this enzyme. Genetic attenuation of ALDH1A1 led to increased invasive capacity and metastatic potential, the inhibition of proliferation activity, and ultimately ...

Study of B+- --> D_CP K+- and D^*_CP K+- decays
We report a study of the modes D_CP K+- and D^*_CP K+- where D^(*) decays to CP eigenstates. The data sample used contains 275 x 10^6 BB events at the Upsilon(4S) resonance collected by the Belle detector at the KEKB energy-asymmetric e^+ e^- collider ...
