Analysis of DC voltage oscillation mechanism in AC/DC hybrid distribution system

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
DC voltage oscillation occurs more and more frequently in voltage source converter (VSC)-based AC/DC hybrid distribution system (AC/DC HDS). However, currently, the explanation of the oscillation mechanism is not clear enough.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Behavioral Modelling of Digital Devices Via Composite Local-Linear State-Space Relations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This paper addresses the generation of accurate and efficient behavioral models of digital ICs. The proposed approach is based on the approximation of the device port characteristics by means of composite local linear state-space relations whose ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

3D State Decomposition Modeling Method for MBSE in Space Engineering

open access: yes, 2012
The increasing number of space missions and the market environment make it mandatory that the design process and design models have to be reused in future space missions.

Assessing performance of Bayesian state-space models fit to Argos Satellite telemetry locations processed with Kalman Filtering [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Argos recently implemented a new algorithm to calculate locations of satellite-tracked animals that uses a Kalman filter (KF). The KF algorithm is reported to increase the number and accuracy of estimated positions over the traditional Least Squares (LS)

Stable Operation and Small-Signal Analysis of Multiple Parallel DG Inverters Based on a Virtual Synchronous Generator Scheme

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
For a high penetration level of distributed energy resources (DERs) in the grid, virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control is applied to the power electronic converters to mimic the rotating mass and damping property of a conventional synchronous ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
