A novel extended state observer
ISA Transactions, 2015A novel extended state observer, which feeds back the output estimation error via both nonlinear and switching terms, is put forward for the first time in this paper. No longer neglecting the lumped uncertainty׳s first time derivative, the problem of disturbance observer design is transformed into the problem of state observer design in the presence of

To observe or not to observe the channel state
2010 48th Annual Allerton Conference on Communication, Control, and Computing (Allerton), 2010We consider the problem of optimal probing of communication channel at the encoder for discrete memoryless channels (DMC) with i.i.d. states. The encoder generates an action sequence dependent on the message with which it probes the channel and hence acquires partial state information.

The observability of initial- and lagging-state observers
Information Sciences, 1978Abstract Initial- and lagging-state observer algorithms recently suggested for deterministic time-invariant systems are shown to fail due to the unobservability of the augmented state vector. For such systems, even when their parameters are unknown, an alternative approach for the estimation of the initial state is available and is referenced.

Conditions of Observation and States of Observers
The Philosophical Review, 1956NORMALLY when we talk about perception and about what is perceived, we use material-object language. That is, we talk as if we could and did perceive-see, touch, hear, taste, smell-external physical objects which constitute our evironment. At the same time we admit that sometimes we are liable to perceptual errors and to hallucinations.

Nonclassical States: An Observable Criterion
Physical Review Letters, 2000An observable criterion is derived that allows one to distinguish nonclassical states of the harmonic oscillator from those having a classical counterpart. A quantum state is shown to have no classical counterpart if and only if the characteristic functions of the quadrature distributions or the s-parametrized phase-space distributions exhibit a slower

A new extended state observer is proposed in this paper. The internal and external disturbances acting on the nonlinear system in the actual operating environment are reduced to "unknown disturbances". State variables and extended state variables in system are estimated and compensated in real time with input and output data.
