Real-Time SoC Estimation for Li-Ion Batteries using Kalman Filter based on SBC Raspberry-Pi

open access: yesAndalas Journal of Electrical and Electronic Engineering Technology, 2021
Measurement of electric charge on the battery in real-time cannot be separated from external noise and disturbances such as temperature and interference. An optimal State of Charge (SoC) estimator model is needed to make the estimation more accurate.

Absolute Local Quantification of Li as Function of State-of-Charge in All-Solid-State Li Batteries via 2D MeV Ion-Beam Analysis

open access: yesBatteries, 2021
Direct observation of the lithiation and de-lithiation in lithium batteries on the component and microstructural scale is still difficult. This work presents recent advances in MeV ion-beam analysis, enabling quantitative contact-free analysis of the ...

Hybrid State of Charge Estimation of Lithium-Ion Battery Using the Coulomb Counting Method and an Adaptive Unscented Kalman Filter

open access: yesEnergies, 2023
This paper establishes an accurate and reliable study for estimating the lithium-ion battery’s State of Charge (SoC). An accurate state space model is used to determine the parameters of the battery’s nonlinear model.

A Physics-Based Electrochemical Model for Lithium-Ion Battery State-of-Charge Estimation Solved by an Optimised Projection-Based Method and Moving-Window Filtering

open access: yesEnergies, 2018
State-of-charge (SOC) is one of the most critical parameters in battery management systems (BMSs). SOC is defined as the percentage of the remaining charge inside a battery to the full charge, and thus ranges from 0% to 100%.

Mitigating Concentration Polarization in Dry‐Processed Ultra‐Thick Cathodes Using a Low‐Viscosity Electrolyte With Soft Li+ Solvation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A low‐viscosity, soft‐solvating methyl ethanoate (ME)‐based electrolyte facilitates electrolyte infiltration into dense dry‐processed ultra‐thick NCM622 cathodes while reducing Li+ desolvation barriers at Li‐metal anodes. Balanced cathode‐scale ion transport and anode‐side interfacial kinetics mitigate concentration polarization and interfacial ...

Fast two‐stage charge equaliser based on state‐of‐charge (SOC) balancing for series‐connected supercapacitors

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
New energy storage vehicles which use supercapacitors (SCs) as the unique source of traction power are developing rapidly recently. To satisfy the operating voltage requirement of energy storage vehicle, hundreds of SCs are needed to be connected in series.

Mechanisms of Degradation in Li‐Ion Batteries Under Low Temperature Exposures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐temperature exposures, or freeze‐thaw cycles, are observed to significantly accelerate the degradation of Li‐ion batteries. A combination of electrolyte phase separation and mechanochemical stress leads to reversible and irreversible performance losses.

Spatially Regulated Lithium Plating via Li2O‐Rich Interphase Enables Durable Fast‐Charging Hybrid Lithium Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A Li2O‐rich solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) is engineered on graphite through a propylene carbonate‐based electrolyte to spatially regulate Li plating. The homogeneous interphase lowers Li nucleation barriers, promotes conformal Li deposition around graphite particles, and suppresses dendritic accumulation, enabling durable hybrid Li‐ion/Li‐metal ...
