Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

High-mobility group protein B1 (HMGB1) level in plasma of alcohol use disorder patients in withdrawal state

open access: yesMiddle East Current Psychiatry
Background Alcohol use disorder (AUD) and alcohol withdrawal syndrome (AWS) are known to be accompanied by inflammatory processes caused by the toxic effects of alcohol and cell death.

Immunogenic cell death induced by a new photodynamic therapy based on photosens and photodithazine

open access: yesJournal for ImmunoTherapy of Cancer, 2019
Background Anti-cancer therapy is more successful when it can also induce an immunogenic form of cancer cell death (ICD). Therefore, when developing new treatment strategies, it is extremely important to choose methods that induce ICD and thereby ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Investigation on heat transfer mechanism simulation and structure optimization design of hydraulic turbine bearing semi-ring cooler

open access: yesHeliyon
Bearing is an important support to carry radial force and axial force, when hydro generator set is running, a large amount of heat produced by the rotor shaft and bearing touching will yield oil mist and jeopardize equipment health.

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Instant termination as a novel indicator for prognosis of persistent atrial fibrillation during cryoballoon ablation: a propensity score-matched analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine
BackgroundInstant atrial fibrillation termination (AFT) during radiofrequency ablation has been suggested as a predictor of prognosis in persistent atrial fibrillation (AF). However, its role in cryoballoon ablation remains unclear.

Comprehensive analysis of keloid super-enhancer networks reveals FOXP1-mediated anti-senescence mechanisms in fibrosis

open access: yesCellular & Molecular Biology Letters
There is a significant gap in multi-omics studies on keloids, especially concerning the interaction between fibroblasts and super-enhancers (SEs). Identifying novel biomarkers within the epigenetic landscape could greatly improve keloid management.
