Structural Damage Detection under Short Time Load Using Cascade-Forward Network [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Rehabilitation in Civil Engineering
Damage identification in structures is one of the most important problems in structural engineering because early damage detection prevents a catastrophic event in structures.

Unscented Kalman Filters for Riemannian State-Space Systems

open access: yes, 2018
Unscented Kalman Filters (UKFs) have become popular in the research community. Most UKFs work only with Euclidean systems, but in many scenarios it is advantageous to consider systems with state-variables taking values on Riemannian manifolds.

A Canonical Space-Time State Space Model: State and Parameter Estimation [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, 2007
The maximum likelihood estimation of a dynamic spatiotemporal model is introduced, centred around the inclusion of a prior arbitrary spatiotemporal neighborhood description. The neighborhood description defines a specific parameterization of the state transition matrix, chosen on the basis of prior knowledge about the system. The model used is inspired

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These

Heuristic Methods for Security Protocols

open access: yes, 2009
Model checking is an automatic verification technique to verify hardware and software systems. However it suffers from state-space explosion problem. In this paper we address this problem in the context of cryptographic protocols by proposing a security ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

Multi-model adaptive PID control of variable speed pump-controlled hydraulic cylinder system

open access: yesJournal of Measurement Science and Instrumentation, 2023
For variable speed pump-controlled hydraulic cylinder system, the nonlinear change of hydraulic system parameters is brought in by large-scale change of speed or load.

State Space Models in R [PDF]

open access: yes
We give an overview of some of the software tools available in R, either as built- in functions or contributed packages, for the analysis of state space models.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.
