The human tibia: Static testing in bending by anin vivo method

Annals of Biomedical Engineering, 1982
We have developed a method for static testing of the human tibia in bending in the living subject, and fabricated a prototype device for carrying it out. Model testing indicates that the device and model system are inherently accurate and reliable. However, the biological system is more complex, and while more than 200 tests have been conducted with ...

Parametric analysis of static bending of the pipeline

Proceedings of the Mavlyutov Institute of Mechanics, 2016
Consideration is given to the direct and inverse problems for pipeline bending both by gravity and transported fluid. The effect of internal pressure drop and the velocity of a fluid are taken into account. The influence of point fixing of “pipeline-capacity” constructions for the deflection is also taken into account.

Static Bending Response of the Human Lower Torso

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1975
<div class="htmlview paragraph">This report defines humanlike quasi-static bending response characteristics of the lower torso. Six volunteers were subjected to a total of 72 tests to define response characteristics for sagittal flexion and extension bending. The effects of muscle tensing and knee bend on the response are evaluated.

Static and cyclic biaxial bending of CFRP panels

Composites Science and Technology, 1994
Abstract Biaxial bending of panel components is a loading situation which exists in engineering structures. The behaviour of composite plates subjected to biaxial flexing has yet to be studied in detail. In the present investigation, static and cyclic biaxial bending were applied to rectangular carbon-fibre/epoxy-resin simply-supported laminated ...

Statics and kinematics of plate bending

1982
In the Appendix the geometry of surfaces is developed. Relevant results will be used here for purposes of developing a suitable plate theory. The themes are the statics of a bent plate and the kinematics of plate bending. As remarked earlier, plates are essentially two-dimensional beam-type structures.

Hyperdemand: A static traffic model with backward-bending demand curves

Economics of Transportation, 2020
Abstract Static traffic models, in the tradition of Walters (1961), typically feature a ‘‘demand curve’’ giving the vehicle flow demanded for each unit travel time (inverse speed). Traditionally, the demand curve declines because people want to drive more as travel times fall. This paper proposes that the vehicle flow demanded can, instead, plausibly

Static fatigue lifetime of optical fibers in bending

Fiber and Integrated Optics, 1987
Abstract An experimental program aimed at defining the effects of applied stress, temperature, humidity, and buffer coating on the static fatigue behavior of optical fibers in bending configurations is in progress. Data are presented below which demonstrate that the static fatigue behavior of fiber is strongly dependent on the polymeric buffer coating.

Size-dependent static bending of flexomagnetic nanobeams

Journal of Applied Physics, 2019
The present paper presents a Bernoulli–Euler flexomagnetic (FM) nanobeam model, which considers the effects of flexomagneticity, piezomagneticity, and the surface elasticity. Differential control equations and corresponding magnetic boundary conditions are derived to investigate the influences of direct and converse FM couplings over the magnetic ...

Fast Track - Static and Dynamic Bending Analysis

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2004
<div class="htmlview paragraph">A big step in improving visibility, safety and comfort during night-time driving is given by a headlamp with a swiveling low beam unit (dynamic bending) and/or an additional light unit for side illumination (static bending).
