A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

On the Statical Longitudinal Bending Moment of Ships

open access: yesJournal of Zosen Kiokai, 1957
The statical longitudinal bending moment acting on a ship is affected by many factors, which relate mutually. In spite of existing this relation, the functional expression which describes sufficiently how the bending moment depends upon all these factors supposed to concern it seems to have not yet been accepted. The author studied this functional ...

Near‐Field Electrospinning Micro‐Printhead Achieves Precise Control of Nanofiber Deposition

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A micro‐printhead for near‐field electrospinning enables reproducible deposition of polymer nanofibers with diameters below 50 nm. Systematic parameter studies uncover the mechanisms linking operating conditions to fiber morphology, paving the way for precise and low‐cost nanoscale 3D manufacturing. As a high‐resolution, cost‐effective, and rapid ...

Study on the effects of initial stress and imperfect interface on static and dynamic problems in thermoelastic laminated plates

open access: yesScience and Engineering of Composite Materials
Based on the generalized thermoelasticity theory, the influence of initial stress and imperfect thermal interfaces on the static and dynamic problems of the simply supported thermoelastic laminated plate is investigated. Besides adopting the spring-layer

Evaluating Energy Absorption Performance of Filled Lattice Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Maximum stress must be considered to robustly evaluate energy absorber designs. This approach was applied to compare all types of absorbers in a single Ashby diagram and determine the utility of filling lattice voids with a second material. High‐performance fillers can improve the performance of lattices that are limited by buckling or catastrophic ...
