Measurement of the shear modulus of wood by static bending tests

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 1998
When measuring the shear modulus of wood by static bending tests, the basic theory is dependent on Timoshenko's bending theory. The shear modulus obtained by static bending is a much smaller value than that derived by other methods. We examined the applicability of Timoshenko's theory and propose an empirical equation that can derive the shear modulus ...

Influence of loading point on the static bending test of wood

open access: yesJournal of Wood Science, 1998
We conducted three-point bending tests by changing the condition at the loading point and then examined the influence of the loading point on the test data. Yellow poplar (Liriodendron tulipfera L.) was used for the tests. First, using loading noses with various radii, static bending tests were conducted by varying the depth/span ratios.

Structural response of concrete-filled elliptical steel hollow sections under eccentric compression [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The purpose of this research is to examine the behaviour of elliptical concrete-filled steel tubular stub columns under a combination of axial force and bending moment. Most of the research carried out to date involving concrete-filled steel sections has

Accurate identification of cross-sectional bending stiffness in large-scale wind turbine blades through static loading test

open access: yes, 2023
To ensure the safe and stable operation of wind turbines, it is essential that the blades have sufficient bending stiffness to prevent excessive deflection and tower impact.

The Breaking Behaviour of Perforated Notched Specimens of Cast lron in Static Bending Test

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1985

RESEARCH ON BENDING FATIGUE TEST BASED ON 42CRMO GEAR (MT)

open access: yes, 2023
42CrMo is a kind of ultra-high strength steel, which has high strength, good hardenability and small deformation after quenching. It is widely used in driving materials such as large gears, bearing spindle and connecting rod used in traction.

STATIC BENDING STRENGTH AND STIFFNESS IN JUVENILE AND ADULT WOOD OF FAST-GROWING Pinus taeda L.

open access: yes, 2023
Due to the high growth rates of the forests planted in Brazil and the variations of the mechanical properties within a tree, this study aimed to evaluate the strength (MOR) and stiffness (MOE) in static bending according to the juvenile and adult wood ...

Nonlinear static analysis of truss core sandwich beams in three-point bending test

open access: yesArchives of Civil Engineering, 2023
An analysis of sandwich beams with truss core is an important issue in many fields of industry such as civil engineering, automotive, aerospace or maritime. The objective of the present study is a nonlinear static response of sandwich beams subjected to the three-point bending test configuration.
