Static Electrification by Nonwetting Liquids. Contact Charging and Contact Angles
A glass slide hydrophobized with dimethyldichlorosilane appears to be electrostatically charged when a nonwetting liquid recedes from its surface. The surface charge has negative polarity. The density of the charge which arises on retraction from water is 10 -4 C/m 2 . The half-life of the charge on the surface in air is 0.5 h.

The contact angle in inviscid fluid mechanics [PDF]
We show that in general, the specification of a contact angle condition at the contact line in inviscid fluid motions is incompatible with the classical field equations and boundary conditions generally applicable to them.

A simple method to create superhydrophobic aluminium surfaces [PDF]
Superhydrophobic surfaces were prepared using a very simple and low-cost method by spray coating. A high static water contact angle of about 154° was obtained by deposition of stearic acid on an aluminium alloy.

Deformation of a nearly hemispherical conducting drop due to an electric field: theory and experiment [PDF]
We consider, both theoretically and experimentally, the deformation due to an electric field of a pinned nearly-hemispherical static sessile drop of an ionic fluid with a high conductivity resting on the lower substrate of a parallel plate capacitor ...

Drops with non-circular footprints [PDF]
In this paper we study the morphology of drops formed on partially wetting substrates, whose footprint is not circular. This type of drops is a consequence of the breakup processes occurring in thin films when anisotropic contact line motions take place.

Precise Static Contact Angle Measurements Using Pythagolas Rule
Pythagolas rule was used for investigation of static contact angle in particular figures. Static contact angle measurement was important to evaluate the wettability between solid and liquid. Optimum measurement method and standardization of calculation for static contact angle were investigated for practical application. Optimum diameter of droplet for

Relaxation of a dewetting contact line Part 2: Experiments [PDF]
The dynamics of receding contact lines is investigated experimentally through controlled perturbations of a meniscus in a dip coating experiment. We first characterize stationary menisci and their breakdown at the coating transition.

A Modified Contact Angle Measurement Process to Suppress Oil Drop Spreading and Improve Precision
Static contact angle measurement is a widely applied method for wettability assessment. Despite its convenience, it suffers from errors induced by contact angle hysteresis, material heterogeneity, and other factors.

Static contact angle measurement at different volumes of a drop sitting on non-ferrous metals
The paper presents the experimental study of the effect of the liquid volume on the static contact angle under the condition of the stationary contact line on the rough and polished surfaces of non-ferrous metals.
