Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

Observation of contact angle hysteresis due to inhomogeneous electric fields
Wetting of surfaces can be affected by surface roughness, presence of surface chemical defects, or by electric fields. Here, the authors perform electrowetting experiments on microstriped electrodes and show that the droplet’s static contact angle ...

Influence of the Static Contact Angle on the Liquid Film Coverage for Falling-Film Systems
Abstract The coverage of the liquid film over the horizontal tubes, particularly the wetting ratio, is important for gravity-driven evaporators and absorbers to achieve a better heat transfer mechanism. A 2D, two-phase CFD model was developed to examine the falling-film hydrodynamics and transient flow mechanism for Reynolds numbers ranging ...

We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Analysis of Statics Characteristics of Static Push-the-Bit Rotary Steerable System
To study the static characteristics of the static push-the-bit rotary steerable system, considering the interaction between the mandrel, the outer cylinder and the borehole wall, combined with the Timoshenko beam element and the contact element, the ...
