Enhancement of a Power System Transient Stability Using Static Synchronous Compensator STATCOM
In modern power system utilities, increased power demand often lead to the situation where the system no longer remains in secure operating region. Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS) controllers can play an important roll in power system security enhancement.

Small‐signal modeling reveals that insufficient system damping positions conjugate poles near the imaginary axis, fundamentally explaining the SFR mechanism. A virtual resistance control is consequently proposed to damp the resonance and effectively suppress SFR, which is validated through Hardware‐in‐the‐Loop experiments.
