Series Transformer Inrush Current Reduction in DVR Using Metaheuristic Optimisation Algorithms in Presence of Balanced and Unbalanced Voltage Sags

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
In this paper, a PI controller is improved for DVR to compensate voltage drops and reduce the series transformer inrush current effectively. The controller parameters are optimised using the modified arctic puffin optimisation (MAPO) algorithm in order to improve the performance of DVR.

Voltage profile enhancement in distribution network using static synchronous compensator STATCOM

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical and Computer Engineering (IJECE), 2020
STATCOM is one of FACTS devices that used as regulator for transmission and distribution systems which works for reactive power compensation. STATCOM utilisation in distribution system mostly for enhancing the profile of voltage, where used for adjusting the disturbance voltage by injecting into the system a controllable voltage.

Impedance Matching Control of Grid‐Forming Energy Storage Converter for Improving the Stability of the Renewable Energy Stations

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration, Volume 8, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
ABSTRACT Increased penetration of power converters within electrical power systems frequently induces resonance issues, which can often be mitigated by reshaping the output impedance of renewable energy sources (RES). From the perspective of feasibility and cost‐effectiveness, the energy storage converter (ESC), which is already integrated into most ...

Multi‐Input Backstepping Control for Transient Stability Enhancement in Power Systems With PMSG‐Based Wind Turbines and UPFC

open access: yesIET Generation, Transmission &Distribution, Volume 20, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
In the paper, first, the modelling of a power system with a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG), Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) and Doubly‐Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) is fully considered. Next, the possible candidate control law and its implementation technique on the power network are examined.
