Statistical Mechanics of Discrete Multicomponent Fragmentation

open access: yesCondensed Matter, 2020
We formulate the statistics of the discrete multicomponent fragmentation event using a methodology borrowed from statistical mechanics. We generate the ensemble of all feasible distributions that can be formed when a single integer multicomponent mass is

Statistical mechanics for non-Hermitian quantum systems

open access: yesPhysical Review Research, 2023
We present a systematic study of statistical mechanics for non-Hermitian quantum systems. Our work reveals that the stability of a non-Hermitian system necessitates the existence of a single path-dependent conserved quantity, which, in conjunction with ...

Statistical Mechanics of Crabgrass

open access: yesThe Annals of Probability, 1989
The authors investigate the time evolution of the contact branching particle processes on \({\mathbb{Z}}^ d/M=\{(x_ 1/M,...,x_ d/M)\}\in {\mathbb{R}}^ d,\) \(x\in {\mathbb{Z}}^ d\). The critical rate of births \(\lambda_ c(M)>0\) is introduced, \(\lambda_ c(M)=\inf \{\lambda:\) the contact process survives with positive probability\(\}\).

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Statistical Mechanics of Structural Fluctuations

open access: yes, 1997
The theory of mesoscopic fluctuations is applied to inhomogeneous solids consisting of chaotically distributed regions with different crystalline structure.

Detailed Fluctuation Theorems: A Unifying Perspective

open access: yesEntropy, 2018
We present a general method to identify an arbitrary number of fluctuating quantities which satisfy a detailed fluctuation theorem for all times within the framework of time-inhomogeneous Markovian jump processes.

β‐TrCP overexpression enhances cisplatin sensitivity by depleting BRCA1

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Low levels of β‐TrCP (Panel A) allow the accumulation of BRCA1 and CtIP, which facilitate the repair of cisplatin‐induced DNA damage via homologous recombination (HR) and promote tumor cell survival. In contrast, high β‐TrCP expression (Panel B) leads to BRCA1 and CtIP degradation, impairing HR repair, resulting in persistent DNA damage and apoptosis ...

Composite CDMA - A statistical mechanics analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) in which the spreading code assignment to users contains a random element has recently become a cornerstone of CDMA research.

Several identities in statistical mechanics

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1994
In an earlier paper concerning a solvable Inodel in statistical mechanics, Miwa and Jimbo state a theta-function identity which they have checked to the 200th power, but of which they do not have a proof.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.
