Review on Crystallization Strategies for Polymer Single Crystals
Polymer physics has evolved significantly over the past century, transitioning from the early recognition of the chain structure of polymers to a mature field integrating principles from statistical mechanics, thermodynamics, and condensed matter physics.

X-ray crystallography is the predominant method for obtaining atomic-scale information about biological macromolecules. Despite the success of the technique, obtaining well diffracting crystals still critically limits going from protein to structure. In practice, the crystallization process proceeds through knowledge-informed empiricism. Better physico-

Statistical mechanical model of gas adsorption in porous crystals with dynamic moieties [PDF]
Significance Some nanoporous, crystalline materials possess dynamic/flexible constituents, for example, a ligand that can rotate. Much like the induced-fit model of enzyme–substrate binding in biology, these dynamic moieties often change conformation when gas molecules adsorb.

Chirality and Biaxiality in Cholesteric Liquid Crystals
We investigate the statistical mechanics of chirality and biaxiality in liquid crystals through a variety of theoretical approaches, including Monte Carlo simulations, lattice mean-field theory, and Landau theory.

Observation of the Kibble-Zurek scaling law for defect formation in ion crystals
Traversal of a symmetry-breaking phase transition at a finite rate can lead to causallyseparated regions with incompatible symmetries and the formation of defects at their boundaries.

First experimental test of Bell inequalities performed using a non-maximally entangled state [PDF]
We report on the realisation of a new test of Bell inequalities using the superposition of type I parametric down conversion produced in two different non-linear crystals pumped by the same laser, but with different polarisation.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Geometric variational problems of statistical mechanics and of combinatorics
We present the geometric solutions of the various extremal problems of statistical mechanics and combinatorics. Together with the Wulff construction, which predicts the shape of the crystals, we discuss the construction which exhibits the shape of a ...

Optimal estimation of entanglement and discord in two-qubit states [PDF]
Recently, the fast development of quantum technologies led to the need for tools allowing the characterization of quantum resources. In particular, the ability to estimate non-classical aspects, e.g. entanglement and quantum discord, in two-qubit systems,

The ubiquitin ligase RNF115 is required for the clearance of damaged lysosomes
Upon lysosomal rupture, an E3 ubiquitin ligase RNF115 translocates from the cytosol to the damaged lysosomal membrane. Moreover, RNF115 depletion impairs the clearance of damaged lysosomes, identifying it as a key regulator of lysosomal quality control.
