Combining Three Peripheral Blood Biomarkers to Stratify Rheumatoid Arthritis–Associated Interstitial Lung Disease Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The purpose was to evaluate a biomarker score consisting of MUC5B rs35705950 promoter variant, plasma matrix metalloproteinase‐7 (MMP‐7), and serum anti–malondialdehyde‐acetaldehyde (anti‐MAA) antibody for rheumatoid arthritis (RA)–associated interstitial lung disease (ILD) risk stratification.

Electron Power-Law Spectra in Solar and Space Plasmas

open access: yes, 2018
Particles are accelerated to very high, non-thermal energies in solar and space plasma environments. While energy spectra of accelerated electrons often exhibit a power law, it remains unclear how electrons are accelerated to high energies and what ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Enhancing Corrosion Resistance and Mechanical Strength of 3D‐Printed Iron Polylactic Acid for Marine Applications via Laser Surface Texturing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Laser surface texturing significantly improves the corrosion resistance and mechanical strength of 3D‐printed iron polylactic acid (Ir‐PLA) for marine applications. Optimal laser parameters reduce corrosion by 80% and enhance tensile strength by 25% and ductility by 15%.

Equilibrium Statistical Mechanics of Strongly Coupled Plasmas by Numerical Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
The intent of these lectures is to give a summary of theoretical understanding and computer simulation results for the equilibrium thermodynamic properties of fully ionized light elements at high density. Matter in this state is a “dense” plasma or “strongly coupled” plasma because of the strength of the Coulomb interaction among the point nuclei.

Spin kinetic theory - quantum kinetic theory in extended phase space

open access: yes, 2010
The concept of phase space distribution functions and their evolution is used in the case of en enlarged phase space. In particular, we include the intrinsic spin of particles and present a quantum kinetic evolution equation for a scalar quasi ...

Stochastic Transition between Turbulent Branch and Thermodynamic Branch of an Inhomogeneous Plasma

open access: yes, 2002
Transition phenomena between thermodynamic branch and turbulent branch in submarginal turbulent plasma are analyzed with statistical theory. Time-development of turbulent fluctuation is obtained by numerical simulations of Langevin equation which ...

Synthesis of a Novel Thermoresponsive S53P4 Bioactive Glass Extract–Poloxamer 407 Injectable Hydrogels: Assessment of Biocompatibility and Antimicrobial Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates innovative thermoreversible hydrogels derived from S53P4 bioactive glass extracts to aid in the healing of infected diabetic foot wounds. These injectable gels, which gel at body temperature, release beneficial ions and remain stable over time.
