Protection of micro-data subject to edit constraints against statistical disclosure

open access: yes, 2006
Before releasing statistical outputs, data suppliers have to assess if the privacy of the statistical units is endangered and apply Statistical Disclosure Control (SDC) methods if necessary. SDC methods perturb, modify or summarize the data, depending on

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Integration of Statistical Methods and Judgment for Time Series [PDF]

open access: yes
We consider how judgment and statistical methods should be integrated for time-series forecasting. Our review of published empirical research identified 47 studies, all but four published since 1985.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

COMPUTER-ASSISTED CHOICE OF SMOOTHING PARAMETER IN KERNEL METHODS APPLIED IN ECONOMIC ANALYSES

open access: yesQuantitative Methods in Economics, 2014
In the kernel method, it is necessary to determine the value of the smoothing parameter. Not without significance is the fact of using the objectivity in the selection of this parameter and a certain automation of the selection procedure, which is ...

Network divergence analysis identifies adaptive gene modules and two orthogonal vulnerability axes in pancreatic cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumors contain diverse cellular states whose behavior is shaped by context‐dependent gene coordination. By comparing gene–gene relationships across biological contexts, we identify adaptive transcriptional modules that reorganize into distinct vulnerability axes.

DISTRIBUTIONS OF THE NUMBER OF CLAIMS BY AGE GROUPS OF INSURED IN CIVIL LIABILITY MOTOR INSURANCE PORTFOLIO

open access: yesQuantitative Methods in Economics, 2014
In the process of calculation of the insurance premium in civil liability motor insurance the knowledge of distribution of the number and value of paid claims is required.
