Meta-analysis of prediction model performance across multiple studies: Which scale helps ensure between-study normality for the C-statistic and calibration measures?

open access: yesStatistical Methods in Medical Research, 2017
If individual participant data are available from multiple studies or clusters, then a prediction model can be externally validated multiple times.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The New Ristić-Balakrishnan-Heavy-Tailed-Type II Topp-Leone-G Family of Distributions with Applications

open access: yesJournal of Statistical Theory and Applications (JSTA)
This study introduces a novel statistical family known as the Ristić-Balakrishnan-Heavy-Tailed-Type II Topp-Leone-G (RB-HT-TIITL-G). The research explores key statistical properties, including hazard rate function, quantile function, moments, stochastic ...

Analysis as part of risk management to protect the system and its assets [PDF]

open access: yesKošická bezpečnostná revue, 2018
Risk analysis and proper use of existing analytical methods are one of the basic assumptions of a proper risk assessment. The use of individual methods depends on the nature of the system under consideration, the amount of the necessary costs, the ...

Risk indicators for root caries in geriatric population of Lucknow City: A cross-sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry, 2018
Introduction: Prevention of root caries among geriatric population is of concern for both general and oral health. It is generally accepted that appropriate prevention regimes for root caries should be based on accurate risk assessments.

The risks in the use of the thoracic tape measure as a method of bovine weighing. Statistical analysis

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Bayesian disclosure risk assessment: predicting small frequencies in contingency tables [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We propose an approach for assessing the risk of individual identification in the release of categorical data. This requires the accurate calculation of predictive probabilities for those cells in a contingency table which have small sample frequencies ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.
