Structural insights and therapeutic targets in Acinetobacter baumannii capsule biosynthesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Hypervirulent KL49 A. baumannii's capsular polysaccharide contains the nonulosonic acid 8‐epi‐Leg5,7Ac2, synthesized by epimerization via ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC. Crystal structures of ElaA, ElaB, and ElaC reveal their role in CMP‐Leg5,7Ac2 synthesis and regioselective C8 epimerization.

Dynamic Performance Simulation of a Household Refrigerator with a Quasi-Steady Approach

open access: yes, 2012
The paper presents a quasi-steady approach for modeling a household refrigerator. The model applies a novel methodology to perform the dynamic simulation. It uses a map of unit which contains high accuracy performance data of the refrigeration loop. This

Relationships between types of balance performance in 3-to-6-year-old preschoolers: a cross-sectional study

open access: yesBMC Sports Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation
Background Balance is often considered task-specific, as indicated by studies correlating several types of balance performance across age groups. Preschool years constitute a critical period for balance development, yet comprehensive data during this ...

The characteristic analysis of a nuclear magnetic resonance oscillator coupled with the phase-locked loop

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
We analyze the scale factor linearity, steady-state, transient, and noise characteristics of a nuclear magnetic resonance oscillator coupled with the phase-locked loop, which makes its performance improvement possible by a balanced strategy in optimizing

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

On the steady-state and tracking analysis of the complex SRLMS algorithm

open access: yes, 2014
In this paper, the steady-state and tracking behavior of the complex signed regressor least mean square (SRLMS) algorithm are analyzed in stationary and nonstationary environments, respectively.

Size expansions of mean field approximation: Transient and steady-state analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Mean field approximation is a powerful tool to study the performance of large stochastic systems that is known to be exact as the system’s size goes to infinity.

An improved algorithm for direct computation of optimal voltage and frequency for induction motors

open access: yesEngineering Science and Technology, an International Journal, 2017
Owing to the constant v/f operation of induction motors which are commonly employed in conveyor belt drives, the core and copper losses are generally high.

Design and analysis strategies for robust microbiome ageing research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The gut microbiome changes with age and associates with age‐related morbidity and mortality, establishing it as a potential biomarker and intervention target for ageing. Realising this potential requires methodological rigour, yet distinguishing biological signals from methodological artefacts remains challenging across cohorts. This review provides an

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.
