The Steady State Economy [PDF]
Over the next 85 years world population is expected to grow from five to at least eight billion people. So a no growth economy is not a realistic assumption for the near future. In the long run, however, a realistic option might be a steady state economy in which both population and the human economy are constant.

Equilibria and Steady States [PDF]
Mathematical models of dynamical systems often take the general form $$\displaystyle\begin{array}{rcl} \frac{dx_{1}} {dt} & =& f_{1}(x_{1},x_{2},\mathop{\ldots },x_{n}), \\ \frac{dx_{2}} {dt} & =& f_{2}(x_{1},x_{2},\mathop{\ldots },x_{n}), \\ & \cdots & \\ \frac{dx_{n}} {dt} & =& f_{n}(x_{1},x_{2},\mathop{\ldots },x_{n}),{}\end{array}$$ (3.1)

How steady are vowel steady-states?
Clinical Linguistics & Phonetics, 1998The duration of vowel steady-states (VSS) was examined acoustically in the speech production of 40 normal young adults. VSS was assessed according to formant frequency changes in sustained /i/ productions and consonant +/i/ + /d/(/Cid/) productions. The duration of the VSS was measured for the first and second formants (Fl and F2) by incorporating a ...

Dislocation structures and structural steady state in steady state creep
Materials Science and Engineering, 1986Abstract Argon et al. have defined a structural steady state which is characterized by an invariant and statistically stationary dislocation density, subgrain size and misorientation and which should be established in steady state creep. In the present paper an attempt is made to correlate this concept with substructure data found experimentally by ...

Fließgleichgewicht (Steady State)

In Defense of a Steady‐State Economy
American Journal of Agricultural Economics, 1972T HE case against continuous exponential growth in the physical coordinates of our economy has already been made [1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 14, 15, 16, 24] but has not yet won majority acceptance. Rather than repeat the arguments establishing the necessity and desirability of a steady-state economy, I will confine myself to a critique of a number of ...

An algorithm for detecting non-steady state moieties in steady state subnetworks
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 1974Abstract An algorithm is presented for the automatic detection of dynamic moiety pools within steady state metabolic subnetworks which may be embedded within larger dynamic networks. This is an aid in the quantitative development of the hierarchical structure of metabolic networks.

The steady-state model adds the control for the system boundary, or more precisely the process boundary, in addition to the control processes of the previous chapter, such as feedback and feedforward. The two previous chapters have emphasised the (primary) process and its control, based on the premise that a process constitutes an interaction between ...
