Characterizing RecA-Independent Induction of Shiga toxin2-encoding Phages by EDTA Treatment [PDF]
The bacteriophage life cycle has an important role in Shiga toxin (Stx) expression. The induction of Shiga toxin-encoding phages (Stx phages) increases toxin production as a result of replication of the phage genome, and phage lysis of the host cell also

Abstract On 20 January 2024, a deep‐focus earthquake (Mw 6.6, depth 607 km) struck near Tarauacá, Brazil, within the subducted South America Nazca Plate. Although it produced no surface damage, the event generated clear co‐seismic ionospheric disturbances (CSIDs) detectable in GNSS‐based Total Electron Content (TEC) data from the Brazilian RBMC network.

Cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy as a cause of acute kidney injury in dogs in the UK [PDF]
To describe the signalment, clinicopathological findings and outcome in dogs presenting with acute kidney injury (AKI) and skin lesions between November 2012 and March 2014, in whom cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy (CRGV) was suspected and ...

This study investigates the mycobacterial membrane protein MmpL3, a key target for new antituberculosis drugs, by combining high‐resolution crystallography and computational simulations. It reveals how the inhibitor UPAR‐1109 binds to MmpL3, providing detailed insights into the function and flexibility of the protein and supporting the rational design ...

Revisiting the STEC Testing Approach: Using espK and espV to Make Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) Detection More Reliable in Beef [PDF]
Current methods for screening Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) O157 and non-O157 in beef enrichments typically rely on the molecular detection of stx, eae, and serogroup-specific wzx or wzy gene fragments.

Real-Time PCR assay for detection and differentiation of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli from clinical samples [PDF]
Timely accurate diagnosis of Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) infections is important. We evaluated a laboratory-developed real-time PCR (LD-PCR) assay targeting stx(1), stx(2), and rfbE(O157) with 2,386 qualifying stool samples submitted to

ABSTRACT Two patients with acute gastroenteritis tested positive for Shiga toxin-producing Escherichia coli (STEC) by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and both strains carried the Shiga toxin 2 encoding gene. Since routine culture using CHROMagar STEC failed to recover these

We identify ruthenium as a refractory plasmonic material exhibiting dual ENZ optical topological transitions and dual plasmonic resonances spanning from visible to infrared region with high imaginary permittivity. We establish a nanoparticle‐on‐cavity (NPoC) resonance mode and realize a NPoC selective solar absorber using cost‐effective additive ...
