Tapered Polymer Optical Fiber Sensors for Monitoring the Steel Bar Corrosion
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 2021The reinforcement corrosion detection has received considerable attention in the field of structural health monitoring (SHM) due to the rising awareness about the safety and longevity of reinforced building structures particularly the steel bars. In this

Steel Bar Penetrating the Skull
Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery, 1982A 42‐year‐old construction worker was struck in the head by a ten‐foot steel bar that fell 240 feet, entering the left parietal area of the skull and exiting above the left zygoma. The bar was surgically removed and the postoperative course was unremarkable. His residual deficits include mild aphasia and the need of a cane for assistance with walking.

Influence of SAP on the chloride penetration and corrosion behavior of steel bar in concrete
, 2020The steel corrosion induced by chloride penetration is a great threaten to concrete structures, in particular exposed to marine environments. Super absorbent polymer (SAP), as a water reservoir, is probably conducive to reinforced concrete suffered from ...

Effects of the corrosion of main bar and stirrups on the bond behavior of reinforcing steel bar
Pull-out tests have been carried out to study the combined effects of corrosion of main bar and stirrups on the bond behavior. The main experimental variables included concrete cover thickness, stirrup spacing, and corrosion levels of main bar and ...

PREMATURE FAILURE OF PRESTRESSED STEEL BARS
Engineering Failure Analysis, 1998Abstract The details of two failures of prestressed steel bars are reported and a failure analysis is carried out using Linear Elastic Fracture Mechanics: the fracture toughness was measured using two standardized procedures and the pertinent stress intensity factor computed by numerical methods.

3D meso-scale modelling of the interface behavior between ribbed steel bar and concrete
, 2020To explore the nonlinear bond behavior between ribbed bar and concrete, considering frictional resistance and the mechanical interlocking between rebar and concrete as well as the surface characteristic of crescent ribbed bar, a 3D meso-scale modelling ...

Piercing Injury of the Pelvis With a Steel Bar
Orthopedics, 2012A piercing or penetrating injury of the pelvis by a steel bar is a rare condition compared with piercing or penetrating injuries of the extremities. We report the case of a 34-year-old woman who attempted a suicidal fall that resulted in the piercing of the pelvis with a long steel bar.
