The role of Steinernema feltiae body-surface lipids in host–parasite immunological interactions
Molecular and Biochemical Parasitology, 2004Interactions between entomopathogenic nematodes (Steinernema feltiae) and insect host (Galleria mellonella) immune system were investigated. We focused on the immunosuppressive properties of the parasite cuticle and on its interaction with hemolymph humoral components.

Abstract The present study describes different desiccation tolerance traits of three strains of Steinernema feltiae (IS-6, IS-15, and N8). A slow dehydration regime (pre-conditioning at 97% relative humidity \[RH] for 3 days at 23 degrees C) induced a quiescent anhydrobiosis state in all strains, which enabled them to

The structure and concentration of sterol in a lipid-defined artificial medium affected the development of the entomogenous nematode, Steinernema feltiae (= Neoaplectana carpocapsae). The nematode grew normally in vitro when the medium was supplemented with delta 5-desalkylsterol (cholesterol) or delta 5-desalkylsteryl ester (cholesterol oleate).

Foliar application of Steinernema feltiae for the control of flower thrips.
Mededelingen (Rijksuniversiteit te Gent. Fakulteit van de Landbouwkundige en Toegepaste Biologische Wetenschappen), 2003Results of a programme, continued from 2000, of weekly commercial foliar applications of entomopathogenic nematodes for the control of western flower thrips, are presented. The programme was extended to include two, year-round crops of pot chrysanthemums and one crop of year-round Saintpaulias.
