Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Fluorine Abundances in Local Stellar Populations

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
We present the first fluorine measurements in 12 normal K giants belonging to the Galactic thin and thick disks using spectra obtained with the Phoenix infrared spectrometer on the 2.1 m telescope at Kitt Peak. Abundances are determined from the (1−0) R9

About trend in zinc stellar abundances with metallisity

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2007
We have carried out investigation of zinc abundance behavior in wide range of stellar metallicities from 0 to -5. It has been determined zinc abundance using our Zn atom model and NonLTE calculation method.

Are beryllium abundances anomalous in stars with giant planets?

open access: yes, 2004
In this paper we present beryllium (Be) abundances in a large sample of 41 extra-solar planet host stars, and for 29 stars without any known planetary-mass companion, spanning a large range of effective temperatures.

Cell density–dependent nuclear‐cytoplasmic shuttling of SETDB1 integrates with Hippo signaling to regulate YAP1‐mediated transcription

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
At low cell density, SETDB1 and YAP1 accumulate in the nucleus. As cell density increases, the Hippo pathway is gradually activated, and SETDB1 is associated with increased YAP1 phosphorylation. At high cell density, phosphorylated YAP1 is sequestered in the cytoplasm, while SETDB1 becomes polyubiquitinated and degraded by the ubiquitin–proteasome ...

Anchoring Stellar Age Indicators: A Cross Calibration of [C/N] and Gyrochronology Ages via the Age–Velocity Dispersion Relation

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Determining stellar ages is challenging, as it depends on other stellar parameters in a nonlinear way and often relies on stellar evolution models to infer the underlying relation between these parameters and age. This complexity increases when comparing

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

A Systematic NLTE Study of Very Metal-poor Stars with Metallicity down to −4.3 dex. VI. Light Neutron-capture Elements and the Sr–Na Correlation as a Signature of Spinstar Nucleosynthesis in the Early Galaxy

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
We present a non–local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE) abundance analysis of the light neutron-capture elements Sr, Y, and Zr in a sample of 103 very metal-poor stars spanning −4.3 ≲ [Fe/H] ≲ −1.7, based on high-resolution Subaru/HDS spectra and ...
